Exploring the secret inner workings of the rock noise.

Shining a light on their cause, Gene Stilp & Associates use this cold-air inflatable in their activist campaigns. It's a great way to grab the attention of passers-by and curious onlookers..

This is a Dorcy brand single LED flashlight powered by 6 "AAA" batteries. Carhartt trousers have a vertical pocket on the right side, which is just slightly too big for this flashlight. Thus the two bands of tape which serve two functions: One is to help keep the flashlight from accidentally falling out of the trouser pocket, especially when seated. The second is to protect the on/off switch from accidental discharge.

The upper annular tape ring is beginning show some lateral "tape creep".

The massive rock in the top 1/3 of the image is the Hartselle Formation. The eroded, dissolved, and narrow, fluted Monteagle Limestone is seen in the lower part of the image. Both are Mississippian in geologic age. Caver in the background for scale.

Still in the grove. Battery pack to the leads - after testing the pack to make sure that was still working. You can see where I used heat-shrink tubing over the solder-joints to the batteries.

Well, would you get a load of that: It lights up when I hit the switch! ::beams::

Do you see the poisonous snake in this photo?

This is why I never step outdoors without a lit flashlight.

In warm weather, the dogs sleep outdoors. Yumin moseyed over to the doghouse, to find it occupied by a qimbahu / 龜殼花 poisonous snake. He barked, and the snake slipped away into the grass. I held the dogs back, but for a moment I lost the snake.

FBI Uniform Crime Reports consistently indicate the majority of officer involved shootings occur between 18:00 and 02:00, under reduced light or in conditions where no light is present. Human night vision is poor so we depend heavily on artificial light in conditions with little or no light. For various reasons, very few agencies issue pistol mounted lights to every officer. Firearms instructors receive little if any instruction in the tactical use of their flashlight and few departments have any kind of ongoing reduced light firearms or tactical light training.

Popow v. Margate mandated that police officers must be trained in the conditions they are likely to work including conditions of dim or no light. Every law officer is likely to encounter reduced light conditions during their shift whether it is a dark basement on the day watch or working during the hours of darkness. Tactical Flashlight Instructor was designed to meet the needs of the law enforcement trainer to create and integrate realistic training with sound tactics designed around modern tactical illumination tools for their training program.

This course will not teach you how to be an instructor. Prior basic firearms/DT instructor level training is required as a pre-requisite.

It's a lightbeam, it kills monsters ;]

The hook of the ride was to look for hidden monsters with the flashlight.

Hendrix loved playing with his flashlight and all the kids in the neighborhood rode bikes and scooters until about 10pm.

Just playing around in the dark with flashlights.

This flashllight was left in my student dwelling my sophomore year. Over Christmas somebody broke into the rooming house I lived in and took a cassette tape deck that hooked up to a stereo system. They left the turntable.

And their flashlight.

I keep tripping over this thing at unexpected moments. I've officially thrown it out.
