How big are the flashlights? Edgar

Flash powder device from the early 20th century . Flash powder is put on the tray . A battery inside the container provides an electric current that heats a thin wire that runs through the powder . At a certain moment the powder explodes and gives a flash .

For "Macro Mondays" "Redux 2018" . Theme : back in the day .

was looking for a new flashlight to use for light painting, and my friend, Neil Lockhart, recommended one that's capable of changing colors, so I got it about a month ago and decided to try it out while taking my new image-engineers to our nighttime photography field trip at Nevada's Fort Churchill State Park.

a big thanks for looking in......really appreciated.......best bigger.....hope you have a Fantastic Week

the more you look at it the weirder it looks

because when family sleeps, light painter has to do what light painter has to do :).........sometimes we need not much to create our art....this time i used only two flashlights from VARTA - - 4 WATT LED HIGH OPTICS LIGHT 3C

Macro Mondays: Evolution

An iPhone flashlight serves the same purpose that a candle used to serve.

Blast furnace #6 at Carrie Furnace, a iron manufacturing plant. The size of this room is hard to explain as the widest part of the furnace over over 1 story in height.

Night, near full moon, 240 second exposure, completely dark interior, protomachines flashlight set to green, gold, lime & blue.

I love lighthouses at night, how their beacons of light flash and spin through the night.

Pigmy Rattlesnake lit with my flashlight. Kinda interesting I think

Using the phone light..

Setup:

(1) 500 watt work light left of the subject diffused through shower curtain.

(1) piece of white posterboard on the right of the subject to provide fill. Also reflected some of the red light from the light source listed below.

(1) flashlight with red filter behind and to the left of flashlight to create red accent on left side. No diffusion.

(1) flashlight behind and to the rightof flashlight to create blue accent on right side. No diffusion.

(1) black curtain to serve as background.

--------

Thought I'd try something different. Instead of lighting the background to create separation, all of the light was placed on the subject. I'm not entirely satisfied with the result. I tried shining a third flashlight, diffused, down onto the subject to create highlights on the end of the handle, but the extra light dirtied up the foreground. When I try this setup again, I'll rig some type of reflector to do this.

Jodie is 5 years old today :3

Sorry for the blurry picture, it was the best I could do with the amount of sun we get and without proper flashlight. I should probably take another picture, but I really wanted to post something on her birthday.

It's midnight, you've done some star trails, you are waiting for the other camera to do a dark frame, why not test out that new LED light.

Bob walked in front of the camera to do some creative light painting....Who says you can't have some fun while waiting.....

3 minutes @ f4, did some extra sharpening and contrast to bring out the skies for this one. Full moon and Cleveland on the horizon made for a brilliant evening....

Made by two exposures, one of them with a flashlight, and then merged and retouched in Affinity Photo.

I love getting rolls of film developed, when you've forgotten what might be on there. I shot this long exposure from a jetty, whilst at a party in Margate, looking out over the sea and back to the beach, and Dreamland.. Oh, and a very happy new year, when you get to it. Here's to lots of good shots in 2016, eh?!

This antique Eveready flashlight was among my parents' effects when they died a number of years ago. Our son kept it as a memento. He recently researched it and discovered this model (#2602) was first manufactured in 1925. A folding ring at the back end indicates the model may have been discontinued in 1929. The curved lens is quite distinct. Fitted with "C" batteries, it still works. (I included my modern watch to give an idea of scale.)

On a related note, we still have my mother's Hamilton Beach "Mixette" hand mixer which was one of my parents' wedding gifts nearly 80 years ago. It still works too. They don't make things like they used to.
