Flash powder device from the early 20th century . Flash powder is put on the tray . A battery inside the container provides an electric current that heats a thin wire that runs through the powder . At a certain moment the powder explodes and gives a flash .

After a misty rain all day, I decided to take a a few late night pics of my sodden, drippy deck flowers.
That's me running around with a flashlight. I didn't think this would work very well but it came out pretty good. I'll probably do more of these once I overcome the fear of looking like an idiot ;)

Britten USA water tower, actually is outside of groom. Built to draw people off the highway like a billboard but with a twist...or tilt. A different way to advertise a along the highway to get gas at a long gone gas station.

this was my first experience with off camera flash: I recently got hold of three 21Ws slaves with bulb sockets - placed in the lamps and triggered with camera flash... ah, and not to forget the little flashlight

Lumen, experimenting with some things I find in the kitchen, using an onion, the UV-Flashlight and some 10x15cm Agfa multi-contrast black and white photo paper. I cut the onion to a about 5mm thin slice in the middle and pressed it on the dry photopaper. 4 times on the corners, then the same slice in the middle. Then expose all with the UV-flashlight. It seems the onion juice has some developing properties. These are lumen so will have to stay in the dark. It looks as if the onion is still on top of the paper but this really only the impression it left.
1960ish Borgward Isabella, beat up and rotten at the junkyard. A deeply obscure survivor, down on her luck. 21-seconds of white and green flashlight in total darkness.
The main tower from which all slides start from. Construction started around 2010 and was stalled due to money constraints. Work was restarted in 2013 but to date it has never opened.
Night, near full moon, 180 second exposure, protomachines set to orange and lime.

This shot was taken using the flashlight to improve poor lighting conditions. I still have limited Flickr time but hope to be able to relax and enjoy again soon.
some work in progress, further with this bamboo paper, exposing with UV-flashlight only, trying some old formulas but they seem to behave different on this paper. They will probably darken when completely dry a bit further.

sometimes we need not much to create our art....this time i used only two flashlights from VARTA - - 4 WATT LED HIGH OPTICS LIGHT 3C
- WORK LIGHT LED 435 my old love ;)
Setup:
(1) 500 watt work light left of the subject diffused through shower curtain.
(1) piece of white posterboard on the right of the subject to provide fill. Also reflected some of the red light from the light source listed below.
(1) flashlight with red filter behind and to the left of flashlight to create red accent on left side. No diffusion.
(1) flashlight behind and to the rightof flashlight to create blue accent on right side. No diffusion.
(1) black curtain to serve as background.
--------
Thought I'd try something different. Instead of lighting the background to create separation, all of the light was placed on the subject. I'm not entirely satisfied with the result. I tried shining a third flashlight, diffused, down onto the subject to create highlights on the end of the handle, but the extra light dirtied up the foreground. When I try this setup again, I'll rig some type of reflector to do this.
It's midnight, you've done some star trails, you are waiting for the other camera to do a dark frame, why not test out that new LED light.
Bob walked in front of the camera to do some creative light painting....Who says you can't have some fun while waiting.....
3 minutes @ f4, did some extra sharpening and contrast to bring out the skies for this one. Full moon and Cleveland on the horizon made for a brilliant evening....

Looks like someone lost their flashlight.
The seed part is that red bucket.
Experimenting with a bright flashlight to do light painting this morning using the new Canon 6D, before sunrise, at home, at the Golden Gate, and the Palace of Fine Arts, San Francisco, USA. I'm not impressed, could've taken these easily with a cheaper camera. I used the flashlight on the rocks in the foreground, I don't know why came out electric blue.
