High key photo of an old 4D Garrity flashlight. My first try
Strobist: One Neewer TT560 manual 1/8 at background behind the flashlight optically triggered. One YN-565 also at 1/8 35mm right of camera triggered with YN-603N. A car sun protector as reflector on the left
Strobist Sundays - needs a battery (well, two cells in this case)
Don't recall where I inherited this old flashlight from, but I like the way it looks. For this shot I wanted to feature the incandescent bulb since I am really into LED flashlights these days. So, taking the next logical step, I used LED flashlights exclusively to light this. I bounced them into a super-simple tent...a piece of paper taped to the table in an arch.
Had to do this simple and fast. Been up all night laying out an annual report, it was a few hours past Sunday midnight (deadline for Strobist Sundays), and there were a other things on my to-do list. The most time-consuming thing was getting the old flashlight to stay on when horizontal....urgh!
Lighting info below.
The DIY light is built into an AC power pack (VPX3101) with its guts removed. I'm just using the housing and battery contacts. Here it's shown next to the VPX1401 flashlight it replaces.
I found this paper in the park. At first glance it appeared to be garbage but then I noticed this amazing ad...
No, I did not photoshop this in. I did actually appear in this ad which is in a small fashion newspaper. The ad was for my friends clothing store called Neutral. The newspaper is HBM which stands for hige/boshi/megane or in English - facial hair/hats/glasses.
set up: camera mounted 580EXii with gobo to keep the spill off the paper in the foreground which was lit after with a flashlight. exp. reduced by 2/3 stop while converting from RAW.
Flashlight holder beside the entry door... super-convenient, and I always know where our flashlight is!
Laurel didn't realize I was following her on her flashlight expedition and turned around when she heard me in the bathroom behind her. I love how her hair flies out when she turns quickly.

One of the best flashlights in the market, check this page if you need any - www.olightstore.com.au/
The other day i wanted to head out to the waterfall but i got side tracked, doing a few things and by the time i actually made it to the falls it was dark out and i needed my flashlight just to walk down the trail,So that left me to head to the other side of the waterfall. When i got out to the bottom of the falls you could see the sky had just this little bit of light left and all the bottom water was being blocked from the trees(in shadow) but the upside is that i knew if i was to set up my tripod i could still take a long photo say 40 seconds long and let that light from the sky light up some of the background and i had my flashlight so i could light paint in some of the foreground, so that was the plan b go to shot, as i only had abit of time before it was completely dark. So this was the adventure of the day --Im gonna get back out to this waterfall --did i mention i even forgot my fireworks in the car... Ill be back here that's for sure
40 Second exposure as i light painted some of the foreground falls
