PA_1097 [100 points]

After an absence of about 4 to 5 years, Mona Lisa made by Invader is back. And immediately in the interest of the players of FlashInvaders. The 100 points are more than worth a trip to this location.

Mona Lisa made by Invader and installed with 10x10 cm tiles not far from the real Mona Lisa painted by Leonardo da Vinci between 1503 and 1506. It was Invader's 2941th space invader in the world.

Mosaic art at ESA’s ESRIN Earth observation centre near Rome, Italy, placed under a mockup of Europe's launcher for small satellites Vega. French artist Invader is installing his art at ESA establishments around Europe and even on the International Space Station.

ESA has been monitoring Earth with its environmental satellites since the 1970s, keeping a constant watch over our planet by analysing satellite data to protect our environment.

The first space invader mosaic art was found by ESA astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti during her mission on the International Space Station. She installed ‘Space2’ in Europe’s Columbus space laboratory. Since then, space-themed art has appeared at the European Astronaut Centre in Cologne, Germany, at our Redu Centre in Belgium, our space operations centre in Germany and ESA’s technical heart in the Netherlands, and it even took over our headquarters in Paris, France.

Download a free app by the artist to spot and collect Invader art at ESA establishments and all over the world. Gain points by taking pictures of the mosaics and compare your scores.

In the night of 23/03/2016 three new space invaders were installed in Paris, all in the 15ème arrondissement (PA_1196 thru PA_1198). This blue 'art deco' shaped space invader is one of them. One of the most succesdful space invader hunters on this planet (JOETHECRAB_1, rank #06, 1340 space invaders seen and flashed, 39430 points on 27/07/2016) was willing to strike a pose in front of this new invader less than one day after invasion.

This one is the first of a series of CryptoPunks mosaïcs made by Invader. CryptoPunks is a non-fungible token (NFT) collection on the Ethereum blockchain. The project was launched in June 2017 by the Larva Labs studio, a two-person team consisting of Canadian software developers Matt Hall and John Watkinson. The experimental project was inspired by the London punk scenes, the cyberpunk movement, and electronic music artists Daft Punk. There are 10,000 unique CryptoPunks (6,039 male and 3,840 female), all of which are made digitally scarce through the use of blockchain technology. Each one was algorithmically generated through computer code and thus no two characters are exactly alike, with some traits being rarer than others.

But this Cryptopunk PA_1478 is not a NFT anymore! He stands now on a façade in Paris, just above the place where New Rose, the legendary records shop and label was. [ # Invaderwashere ]

Quai d'Orsay: The Quai d'Orday is a quay in the 7th arrondissement of Paris. It is part of the left bank of the Seine opposite the Place de la Concorde.

The French Ministry of Foreign Affairs is located on the Quai d'Orsay, between the Esplanade des Invalides and the National Assembly at the Palais Bourbon, and thus the ministry is often called the Quai d'Orsay by metonymy. The building containing the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was built between 1844 and 1855 by Jacques Lacornée. The statues of the facade were created by the sculptor Henri de Triqueti (1870). The Treaty of Versailles (1919) was negotiated and written at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The quai d'Orsay has a length of 1270. meters and a width of 29 meters.

May 1968. The volatile period of civil unrest in France during May 1968 was punctuated by demonstrations and massive general strikes as well as the occupation of universities and factories across France. This space invader is a commemorative invader of that period. In the matching colors red and white. Colors of the revolution.

The oldest space invader of Clermont-Ferrand and one of the oldest space invaders in France and the world. Still active in the historic center of Clermont-Ferrand on a quiet location.

Flashing here is Bastian from the area Aix-en-Provence who went to Clermont-Ferrand for the same reason as me.

This one I was forgotten to flash ever since I started with the online game FlashInvaders (as we speak -September 2022- more than 250.000 players and more than 15 million flashes made). This one is a bit hidden away in an alley but well seen from the street.

The first space invader I "flashed" after the lockdown in Paris. It couldn't be more topical than this. 2020 is the year of the pandemic and Invader was also in lockdown from mid-March to 11 May.

Back in town on Place de la Concorde after a couple of years of absence (no idea when the original has been deleted). Re-activated like many others in 2015, not only for the online game FlashInvaders but also to restore the invaders which are gone as much as possible.

This photo is taken about 10 years after my first photos of PA_152.

A ground invader about three and a half years after re-activation. This type has a very hard time because they are constantly being trampled. But this one has held up well so far. PA_297 is part of 10 "ground" space invaders have been re-activated in June 2020. Time for a revisit with a WOFT photo ("What's On Foot Today")

PA_28 [10 points]

I have encountered this space invader already back in November 2005. The wall was repainted and they painted over this one as well. It is said that there was a period when the invader was visible in the original colors because the wall was sandblasted, but in November 2007 the invader was finally removed from the wall. I missed this 2016 re-activation. Due to the low activity of Invader in 2021 and early 2022, I have the time to find, flash and photograph all space invaders that have never been visited.

A reactivation made it possible to flash this 2008 space invader near Tour Eiffel. And a good reason for a photo update of this one in the 15ème arrondissement as well. Instead of Stewart capturing me, I made a selfportait for this one. Same setting as in the year 2008.

The online game FlashInvaders forces me to visit space invaders again in neigbhourhoods I don't visit very often like this corner in the 13ème arrondissement. It was almost 10 years ago I was here and I must say that this space invader hasn't changed that much. This original space invader is still in good shape.
