Just flashed my 1503th space invader here...

Location: Place Rhin-et-Danube, Paris 19ème, France.

Coordinates: Click on the link to see the exact location where this photo was taken:

48°52'55.8"N 2°23'34.0"E

Reason: During my 908th découcher (overnight) in Paris my mission was to visit this space invader which I never flashed before. And that while this is already the third PA_984 after being removed from the wall twice.

PA_984: The original space invader was installed by Invader on 15/05/2011/ It was in 2011 the 2539th space invader of the world made by Invader. Deleted in 2014/2015. First re-activation took place in 2017 and this was deleted in 2021. This version number 3 of PA_984 and finally flashed by me.

In total I scored 43,830 points and when this photo was taken I was ranked 790th of 293,000plus which is not that bad at all. This PA_984 was my 1250th space invader in Paris I flashed out of the 1485 space invaders in Paris (April 2023).

Quai d'Orsay: The Quai d'Orday is a quay in the 7th arrondissement of Paris. It is part of the left bank of the Seine opposite the Place de la Concorde.

The French Ministry of Foreign Affairs is located on the Quai d'Orsay, between the Esplanade des Invalides and the National Assembly at the Palais Bourbon, and thus the ministry is often called the Quai d'Orsay by metonymy. The building containing the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was built between 1844 and 1855 by Jacques Lacornée. The statues of the facade were created by the sculptor Henri de Triqueti (1870). The Treaty of Versailles (1919) was negotiated and written at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The quai d'Orsay has a length of 1270. meters and a width of 29 meters.

A re-activation of a space invader of which I have never seen the original. The original location is right at the other side of the street (PA_42 by Tofz4u). Sometimes it's better to have a good reactivation than one at the exact location. There is hope for a lot space invaders to be re-activated.

Finally I have a better close-up of PA_584 in the only street in Paris named after my hometown in the Netherlands. This Pac Man was the last invader I flashed during my 3 day stay in Paris in the Summer of 2020 after the lockdown. The score is that I flashed in total 40 space invaders (new, re-activated and never revisited older invaders) worth in total 1070 points and I went up in rank from 505 to 454.

My total score is now 38,740 points, 1,336 invaders of which 1,138 out of 1,446 in Paris. On 20/07/2020 there were more than 136,670 FlashInvaders players.

Invader likes to make such tiled poster mosaics in recent years. This one is located in the neighbourhood Préfecture not far from the Cours Julien.

Till August 2020 I found and flashed all 13 space invaders of wave 1 (MARS_01 - MARS_11 - 2004 and wave 2 (MARS_12 and MARS_13). But during wave 3 in August 2020 the number of space invaders went up to 97. In total 84 space invaders on my list again.

A low outlined space invader of the late ninetees of which I have never seen the original before. Because the street has been raised, the re-activated space invader had to be adjusted and misses half of the tiles. It might be the reason why this one is not flashable with the application FlashInvaders (as we speak in February 2020; more than 125,000 players and more than 6.5 million flashes!).

Invader collaborated on the "Video Games Music" exhibition at the beautiful Philharmonie de Paris. For Invader, this was the opportunity to provide both the Philharmonie de Paris and the Cité de la Musique with no fewer than 7 new space invaders (PA_1562 thru PA_1568). I am posting them in the order in which I found them.

The Velvet Undrground! Lcated in the hall of Cité de la Musique.

The Velvet Underground was an American rock band formed in New York City in 1964. They became known for their integration of rock and roll and the avant-garde, which earned them little commercial success during their initial nine-year run but made them one of the most influential bands of their era, particularly in underground, experimental, and alternative music scenes.

MARS_34 [40 points]

The last space invader during this stay in Marseille. In total I flashed 46 new space invaders (worth 1710 points on FlashInvaders). This invader is located in the market area of Marseille and it shows.

Back in town on Place de la Concorde after a couple of years of absence (no idea when the original has been deleted). Re-activated like many others in 2015, not only for the online game FlashInvaders but also to restore the invaders which are gone as much as possible.

This photo is taken about 10 years after my first photos of PA_152.

This was space invader number 3630 in the world.

Invader use to make these kind of space invaders in and around 2006 and called them space targets. This one is located near the historic Smithfield foodmarket in Farringdon.

Part of the 4th wave in London for the occasion of the exposition 'Hype' at ELMS Lesters Painting Room. Surrounded by some bars and food places so entertainment enough here.

One the biggest projects of Invader in the year 2006 in Paris was this PA_689. About 18 space invaders on a row. Estimated format: 18,5 meters wide, 16 centimeters high. Totally about 7300 mosaïque tiles used for this one.

Re-activated in early 2021 and flashed by me in the evening about 11 months later.

This one is the first of a series of CryptoPunks mosaïcs made by Invader. CryptoPunks is a non-fungible token (NFT) collection on the Ethereum blockchain. The project was launched in June 2017 by the Larva Labs studio, a two-person team consisting of Canadian software developers Matt Hall and John Watkinson. The experimental project was inspired by the London punk scenes, the cyberpunk movement, and electronic music artists Daft Punk. There are 10,000 unique CryptoPunks (6,039 male and 3,840 female), all of which are made digitally scarce through the use of blockchain technology. Each one was algorithmically generated through computer code and thus no two characters are exactly alike, with some traits being rarer than others.

But this Cryptopunk PA_1478 is not a NFT anymore! He stands now on a façade in Paris, just above the place where New Rose, the legendary records shop and label was. [ # Invaderwashere ]

PA_126 [10 points]

A Summer evening close-up of the third version of PA_126.

The original was placed in 1998 but not long after removed by the authorities. Re-activated by Invader in 2008 for the reprint of his book "L'Invasion de Paris 1.0" because there was no proper photo in the first edition. And also this one did not last very long. But now it is part of the re-activation wave by the re-activasion team in Paris and PA_126 can be flashed and added to the FlashInvader galaries.

The sea resort town of La Ciotat has been invaded as well. As we speak (January 2016) a total of 9 invaders installed during 4 waves. This one with FlashInvader colors was installed in the Summer of 2014. Just for the record, it was my personal 350th space invader flashed with the application FlashInvaders.

We didn't have the time to hunt for some other space invaders in La Ciotat. We know there are a few more including a good re-activated one.

This space invader has the Summer and FlashInvader colors of the year 2014. The year the online application game FlashInvaders was introduced. Still active and very visible for residents and visitors of the Butte aux Cailles neighbourhood.

A revisit photo of this one. Flashed and once again captured.
