Trying out my new 580ex flash with my only willing portrait subject, Milton T. Bear

Published by Ebal, Brazil 1967-1969

North West London.

At Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge: out of nowhere, this flash of a bird landed on a low branch in front of my car. In another flash of a decision, I scanned the area for a parking spot. The eagle took off and started to hover. Oh how I wished I could have captured images of her hovering. She dove. With little time, I resigned to enjoying the sight and observing the behavior. I, however, managed to stop the car, put it in park, slip off my shoes, hop on the driver seat, grab the camera, transfer to the passenger seat and these were the images I captured: (all in the limber state of my old age! LOL)

Fotos do Flash mob realizado no casamento de Camila e Marcio, na Green House Buffet. O flash mob de casamento foi planejado pelos noivos e familiares e coreografado por um professor de dança meses antes do casamento. A música escolhida para o flash mob foi "You can dance" do Abba.

Javan Pond Heron (Ardeola speciosa), Ubud, Bali, Indonesia

Ebird checklist:

ebird.org/checklist/S165663397

Stout heron with flashing white wings; can be mistaken for a egret in flight, but note darker head in all plumages. Handsome in breeding plumage, with creamy head, dark red breast, and lacy black plumes on the back. Streaky brown nonbreeding plumage is nearly indistinguishable from other pond-herons. Forages in rice paddies, pond and lake edges, and mangroves.

My girlfriends little niece Zoe, taken during an in-promptu 'environmental' portrait session at my home in Scotland. In this shot young Zoe is leaning on the highly reflective coffee table in front of a large window - the blue-ish background is actually my car! I am firing an on camera (aaaaggghhh) strobe over my head, off the back wall/roof - creating this almost dreamlike soft light. Shooting wide-open on a 70-200mm, D2X.

None of this shoot was setup - it is all reportage style as Zoe went about playing - taking the opportunities when she looked at the camera!

The Flash! Festival is a digital festival hosted every year by West Liberty University and sponsered by Apple and Sony. I was asked to brand and create the ad campaign for the event.

Corgi, Flash was a shy guy and took a lot of persuasion to accept me (and my camera) and pose. I just knew as soon as i saw him how photogenic he'd be though.... and the little guy didn't disappoint.

Pennington Flash Country Park is a 200 hectares (494 acres) country park located between Lowton and Pennington, Leigh in Greater Manchester, England.

The flash is a 70 hectares (173 acres) lake created at the turn of the 20th century by coal mining subsidence, mainly from Bickershaw Colliery, and flooding. Now an extensive nature reserve with several bird hides and a network of tracks and footpaths, Pennington Flash Country Park is nationally renowned for its birdlife and is a classic example of natural regeneration. A variety of well-maintained paths cater for walkers, cyclists and horse riders. Ideal for disabled persons, the Flash's hides have ramps for wheelchair access.

One of the premier birdwatching sites in North West England, over 230 bird species have been recorded on site including: Black-faced Bunting, Nightingale, Marsh Harrier, Spoonbill and Leach's Storm-petrel. Additionally, a wide variety of butterflies, dragonflies and damselflies can be spotted in the area.

Facilities include a small information centre, a nine-hole municipal golf course, a pay and display car park, a children’s play area, picnic and recreation areas, bird watching facilities, fishing on certain shores, sailing, windsurfing and rowing through Leigh and Lowton Sailing Club, a mobile café and toilets.
