Some prospective flash for my half-price page.

Flash RAM of many technologies and form-factors

Taken with X10 and external flash (Nikon SB800) hand-held

Mi piace l'effetto del vecchio specchio rovinato, ricoperto da uno spesso strato di polvere resa brillante dalla luce...

Per il resto è solo un gioco :)

DiY Macro Flash, very temp wiring to see if one control unit can fire 2 flash bulbs, the flash heads are fitted to a cut down petal hood by a small ball head. Cost at time of shot US$30!!!

Sophie and I rose before sunrise and decided that playing with off-camera flash in a 30°F windblown field would be a good way to watch the day begin.

Our results were pretty awful, as you can see in this photo, which was the best of our shoot. I have so much to learn about off-camera lighting.

But the possibilities...oh, the possibilities. :-)

The inset shows my setup: my new SB-800 on a small stand, triggered by my D200 in commander mode, with the D200's internal flash "turned off" (that is, used only to trigger the SB800).

Now we're ready for a nap.

Big, on black.

How many lighted Christmas Parades have a blinking FritoLay semi full of goodies?

All these photos are not commercial photos. The products have been used to enhance my photography skills.

Two lights used:

- in camera pop up flash as key light (while waiting for my second flash order!!)

- of camera flash, gelled in red, in a home made beauty dish

Happy to receive your comments and advices for improvement.

Sorry for the strange file name, that's what I saved it as and I can't think of anything else.

ANYWAY. Why have I never used a flash gun properly before?! I was doing some multiple flash work, which didn't go to well, because I couldn't be bothered to use a tripod, and it wasn't as dark as I'd have liked it to be. But I got bored of multiple flash half way through and I thought this looked REALLY pretty. Plus we've had a bit of a self portrait over load lately. So heres something that.. Isn't me.

Anyway, so I'm currently using a flash gun that my grandad used to use. It is sort of weird using a flash gun thats OLDER than I am. But I'll live. It sucks cos I can't connect it in properly otherwise you only get the one flash and the built in flash still tries to pop up as well. Ah well. Hopefully someone will buy me a more up to date one at some point.

EXPECT ALICE IN WONDERLAND WORK NEXT WEEK. I HOPE.

Owen, through the ring flash. You can see the blue bowl I used for the base of the flash. I painted the inside silver, so it appears to be pretty color-neutral.

Black frill detail dress, Lipsy.

Shoes, Ted Baker 'Mary Jane'.

bare sunpak 383 at 1/16 power on camera left aimed at a foam-board on camera right, another foam board placed behind the sunpak flash .. [sounds a lil confusing!]

Decided to make a quick and dirty cardboard flash diffuser. Then I decided to just go all the way and make different comparisons.

- Homemade cardboard, head 45 degrees

- Nothing, head 90 d (towards white ceiling)

- Integrated lid pulled out but not folded back onto the head, head 45 d

- Nothing, head 45 d

- Nothing, head 0 d (straight ahead)

- Stofen diffuser, head 0 d

- Nothing, head 0 d

- Stofen, head 0 d

Clearly, ceiling bounce is the best.

The stofen does not bad a job, but adds a lot of warmth (which is neither good or bad I guess, depends what you're looking for)

My cheapo diffuser beats the rest.

It would be a whole different story outside though.

Buster Crabbe (as Flash Gordon), Jean Rogers (as Dale Arden), Frank Shannon (as Dr. Alexis Zarkov), Priscilla Lawson (as Princess Aura), and Charles Middleton (as Ming the Merciless). Directed by Frederick Stephani.

Photos from our limited halloween decorations this year!

That's a Godox flash in S1 optical receiver mode (triggered by the first flash it sees from the transmitter flash on my camera). I'm also pleased to see that the Minolta Flash, from 1985. Both flashes have to be used manually.
