ODC: CONTRE-JOUR

Hope this will work for the challenge. Not what I had been thinking, but the flames were looking so cool, had to get a shot.

The glow of a flame depends on temperature for the black-body radiation emitted from soot, gas, and fuel particles. Gravity plays a role in flame formation like the one shown on this picture.

FLAME TREE (royal poinciana)

The bright red flowers of this tree is why it is also known as "flamboyant". Not native to Guam, it was probably brought during the Spanish era. I remember as a boy we used to play a game with the flowers. Only problem is when it blooms (I forget if its when it blooms or after) there are alot of caterpillars that drop to the ground.

Twenty-five years since the late evening explosions on the gas platform Piper Alpha and the loss of 167 men, a true catastrophe.

People of my parents' generation talk about never forgetting where they were when Armstrong walked on the moon for the first time or when JFK got shot.

For me, that's when Piper Alpha went up (hearing the endless helicopters flying over a friend's house) and, strangely, one day and 17 years later, the London bombings on July 7 2005 (at our office in Kings X).

We finished the food portion of Epic Food Day around 11 pm, just in time for me to convince everyone to go to the Bigfoot Lodge on Polk Street so I could realize my dream of seeing them set the bar on fire at midnight. We had to wait a little longer than that, but with "Welcome to the Jungle" blaring in the background, the bartenders using their soda dispensers as microphones, and fire blazing the foreground, the extra wait was totally worth it.

Flame Angel

Centropyge loriculus

It was on January 23, 1897 that the greatest Indian ever was born. He had all the characteristics of a flame which could burn down the entire British Empire. What happened to the flame? Did it burn down the British regime or was it snuffed out by Indians/Britons? Read more at go.sreejith.info/story
