The York Adult Flag Football League has been around for many years, and as usuall, the spring league is underway and with the start of the league last week, teams were eager to get out and play. This year because of land ownership change, the YAFFL decided to change location where the games would be played. The Northeastern Middle School had the space to layout 3 fields for play. Games started at 8am and the last game scheduled for 12pm.

Flag Day is already a well-known and beloved competition among students from five high schools in Bucharest, organized by the Public Diplomacy Section. Participating for the first time, this year’s high schools (Mihai Eminescu, Nicolae Iorga, C.A. Rosetti, Mihail Sadoveanu and Dimitrie Paciurea) developed depictions of all 50 U.S. States and the District of Columbia.
Held in the Embassy’s courtyard for the first time, the 150 students exhibited the displays they created to illustrate representative elements for each of the states, all related to the history, culture and language of the Native Americans. The winners received American books and stationary and had a fun pizza picnic on the lawn.

I've decided to (take the massive task of) redesigning flags - I know, I know, you're welcome : )
Anyway, I realise this could be a risky challenge to set myself, so please, don't hate mail me, saying that, I do want to know your reactions and thoughts, good or otherwise...
Iceland - Northerly land of ice covered volcanoes famous for it's lagoons.
Anyway, what'd you think?

I put these flags around the milkweed plants with the hope to protect the plants and influence the clearing of the hillside which was sure to come and it did come and the plants were spared. The Indian Milkweed also known as Monarch Milkweed and Kotolo is the food source for Monarch Caterpillars and grows on this hillside. More flags can be see along the ridge near the top of the hill where there were probably 40 plants in all on the hillside. Also protected was a single low growing native California Verbena (Verbena Lasiostachy's) which I discovered growing on the same spot last year not knowing what it was.
My thanks to the hardworking laborers working in the hot sun who honored the flags intent.

One of my first shots with my camera phone. It's so rare to get the light and wind working together.
