The art of flag throwing dates back to medieval guilds (principally in Italy). A guild's banner or flag was considered a symbol of purity, and as such it was not allowed to touch the ground.

. In acrobatical flag throwing, the thrower uses both hands to move the flag in a sitting, laying, or kneeling posture. The tradition of flag throwing is thought to have arisen from medieval battle, the ensign carrier being one of the most important soldiers on the field of battle, carrier of the symbol of the army, expected to defend the flag with his life and rally the troops to its colours. In the event of his being overcome, he would throw the flag to a comrade and so began the practice of hurling the banner high in the sky to land safely in the hands of another.

Carrased by the wind, sea oates bend under the pressure as they stand on Petit Bois Island off Mississippi in the Sound. Living so close to these islands tends to make me forget how lucky I am to be able to enjoy them. I forget about all the people who live inland and never get to physically see or walk on white sand while experiencing for themselves the beautiful beaches.

These beaded drink flags are custom-designed, printed and hand-assembled. They are topped with a White Pearl bead. Great to add a little personal touch to a special occasion.

They measure 10" in length.
