The Council of Europe (French: Conseil de l'Europe /kɔ̃ˈsɛj.də.lˈœʁɔp/, German: Europarat /ɔɪ.ˈʁoː.pʰaˌʁaːtʰ/) is an international organization of 46 member states in the European region. Its main success was the European Convention on Human Rights in 1950, which serves as the basis for the European Court of Human Rights. The seat of the Council of Europe is in Strasbourg on the Franco-German border. Originally meeting in Strasbourg's University Palace, it is now domiciled in the Palais de l'Europe about two kilometres from city centre. Membership is open to all European democracies which accept the principle of the rule of law and guarantee fundamental human rights and freedoms to their citizens.
The Council of Europe is not to be confused with the Council of the European Union or the European Council, as it is a separate organisation and not part of the European Union.

Flagpole at the foot of the beach access road in Port Stanley, ON. I don't recognize the one on the left; presumably it's the town flag, or perhaps the county (er, Elgin?)

So Paul is a genuine Capetonian, born in the center, close to The Gardens, obviously that was a priority on the list of MUST see.
The National Gallery is right there, you can see THE MOUNTAIN in the back, it is amazing how it pops up in so many images!
Growing up, already very creative, drawing and painting, he was of course interested in the Arts and spent a lot of time admiring what was on offer.
To the people of South Africa, Europe is the Mecca for Art, with all the beautiful musea and Galleries... however, it is very far, something most dream of.
The South African National Gallery is the national art gallery of South Africa located in Cape Town.
Its collection consists largely of Dutch, French and British works from the 17th to the 19th century.
This includes lithographs, etchings and some early 20th century British paintings.
Contemporary art work displayed in the gallery is selected from many of South Africa's communities and the gallery houses an authoritative collection of sculpture and bead-work.
It had changed a little, also now you had to pay, where before it was free.
Paul just had a peep inside for old time sake.
The weather was too lovely, so we roamed the Gardens and enjoyed the mellow mood on that Sunday afternoon, later under the exotic trees having our tea!
Have a great day and as always, THANKS, M, (*_*)

Almost international flags. Swiss adore their flags: national, flags of cantons, flags of cities.
The upper one is a flag with all swiss cantons.
Zürisee in the background.
Was waiting a long time to take this photo!!!

The stars and stripes give a touch of patriotism to these tall windows. Even if the windows are featured on the condemned Goncho apartments in Washington, Iowa. Two dozen people were evacuated from the building on January 17, 2013, because toxic methamphetamine chemicals were discovered throughout. Sadly, some are now referring to the rural community as Methington, Iowa.
