The flag of Canada, often referred to as the Canadian flag, or unofficially as the Maple Leaf and l'Unifolié (French for "the one-leafed"), is a national flag consisting of a red field with a white square at its centre in the ratio of 1:2:1, in the middle of which is featured a stylized, red, 11-pointed maple leaf charged in the centre.[1] It is the first ever specified by law for use as the country's national flag.
A cool photo of the flag in our front yard. Notice the moon in the background.

Flowers of the yellow flag (Iris pseudacorus) are again lining the shores. They look elegant to me.
Die Blüten der Sumpf-Schwertlilie (Iris pseudacorus) säumen wieder die Ufer. Sie kommen mir elegant.
This is a shining example of how my laziness ruins many a potentially great picture. Here I am, carrying not only my D50 with the 12-24 screwed on but also three (!) other lenses. I see this great reflection, take a picture, realize the distortion ruins it but can't be bothered to switch to a 35 or 50mm lens. Jeez. And now, of course, I'm sorry...
(ok it didn't help that it was freezing cold with an incredibly strong and chilly easterly breeze...but still!)
Yes, I love my own country very much, but I must admit that I sometimes wonder if I was a Canadian in a previous life...
I have only been to one of your fair provinces (so far!), but I absolutely fell in love with it! (and I am planning many more trips to other provinces soon!)
I have some great Canadian friends, and a deep and abiding love/obsession for the national sport, I know the theme song to HNIC, I love the outdoors, I speak a bit of French, I enjoy Margaret Atwood novels, know the words to many Barenaked Ladies and Bedouin Soundclash songs, and I knit - that's pretty darn close to being official, right? :)
Happy Canada Day!
