Does Hawaii Five-O really exist? This badge would indicate it must be a real agency. The simple answer is, No. The primary reason that it does not, there are no state wide roads. Each Island has its own police force that can use some state resources while doing the police work. Even when a local place, Like Honolulu, has its name on a vehicle, the authority is Island wide. One morning while I was on Maui, the local radio host announced that a car went missing. He requested that the driver just park the car and call the radio station to report where it was parked. The listeners also were reminded that if anyone needs a ride, call the station and a driver could be found to provide transportation. This is so much better than a high speed chase.
I guess the next question would be, Where did I get this Badge? A Maui gift store had two in a display case, no prices and no descriptions. He claimed that they were given to him one day while he was watching the filming of the Television show. He told me to watch carefully when the show is on the TV and I will spot these "props". As a badge collector I had to have one, even if it is not a badge. It is a badge, perhaps the most recognized one I have. When I show the collection, this one is the most noticed. It makes me want to get a Batmobile The second most recognized vehicle in the world. It is right behind the Popemobile!

ALL MY PHOTOS ARE NOW ON SALE!
I've been hanging out with folks in the Polaroid scene, past six months or so. Some of 'em have YouTube pages, or podcasts, followings. They've been at it for five years, or seven years, some folks are new to it, some folks are older, some are younger.
I'll be talking to them, worker among workers, that's how I like to describe it, how I try to think about myself when I'm hanging out with other artists.
Then I'll pull this image out of the archives to talk about here and realize it was fifteen fucking years ago...and at that point I'd already been taking photos seriously for five years? That I've been at this a long goddamn time! And I'm not tired of it!
Lot's changed, so much. At the time of this photo, I was living in a tiny apartment (albeit in a great neighborhood, with some fun neighbors), I was driving an old old car that had over 300,000 miles on it, I probably had a month's worth of rent in the bank, if that.
But I'd met so many people online, I had friends coming out my ears.
I didn't have all I wanted, but I had what I needed. I was very lucky. Maybe that's one of the biggest lessons of my twenty year journey: Make as many friends as possible. Meet people as much as you're able. Put yourself out there, no matter how shy you feel you are.
Everyone involved in this photo was someone I met because I was crazy online. Messaging people, texting people, IMing people, talking to people, commenting on other people's photos, talking to people, that was really my main hobby. Photography was a side benefit to all the people I've gotten to hang out with.
This photo, much as I like it (why did I wait 15 years to post it????), this is nothing compared to the great time we had, that day. The good times are waiting for us all...

This little lake is located about one mile from the home we lived in for twenty-five years. Suzy and I use to walk on a little path on the other side of the dead trees. We have been in a wet cycle for the past ten years and this lake has risen over six feet drowning all the trees. The township road has been raised three or four times during this period.
