The photo were taken back in March 2012. I am just catching up with them. I had started to put up our trip to Northland but for some reason never got them all up.

The Greatest Tree in New Zealand

The kauri tree, Agathis australis, is New Zealand’s largest and most famous native tree. Located midway between Auckland and the Bay of Islands in the warm north of the country, The Kauri Museum tells some of the stories of this amazing tree.

Far more than a museum of timber, the Museum has stories of the Māori of the north eastern Kaipara, of European pioneers, of foresters and sawmillers, gum diggers and farmers, and of business people, fishers and the families who have made this area their home.

This fitting rooms topper was seen well in advance (presumably in a lot of stores) of the full-blown, pandemic-era blue package being brutally forced upon lovingly applied to other stores recently, similar to how the BD 2.0 Vision Center signage appeared ahead of the first BD 2.0 package rollout.

I hadn't noticed those cool, subtle geometric designs on any of these toppers elsewhere. Those remind me a bit of the newer Airport package, which thankfully has (hopefully) put the pandemic-era blue package out of it's misery! Sadly though, Southaven and Corinth both missed Airport décor and got stuck with the pandemic-era stuff.

Our four-footed houseguest, Gypsy, is making herself at home. She's been incredibly well behaved. She definitely has bonded to us and even engages in a bit of play with Heidi -- though Heidi would love if she would play all day long. She had to get used to no more free-feeding from the moment she arrived -- it took no time at all for her to get used to eating once a day but she is incredibly curious about the difference in food that goes in her dish (kibble - yuk) compared to Heidi's dish (real raw meat). We've compromised and break an egg into her kibble just so she is getting a tiny bit of real food.

She looks pretty good in the dress I bought for myself, doesn't she? I think I've mentioned this before, but I hate how most everything seems to fit Daisy perfectly right of the rack....and my luck is all hits and misses. 😖

Oh well, the good news is that if something doesn't fit me right...I'll just gift it to Daisy. Oh yeah, of course it'll fit her. 😉

Tight fitting jodhpurs feel great on the legs

Back inside we go for a look at the fitting rooms and it's blue topper, which made an appearance in the Southaven store quite sometime before the rest of the store was remodeled to the pandemic era BD 2.x décor. This same topper has been present in the Horn Lake store for quite a while as well, but hopefully doesn't mean that store will suffer the same fate (as far a remodel packages go) as Southaven and Corinth did! (Per a very recent revisit to the Horn Lake Walmart, I can confirm that it still has it's Project Impact package largely intact).

WEEK 26 – Southaven Gordmans Liquidation, Set III

Case in point, I wouldn't have been able to manage such a clear or people-free shot of the fitting rooms like this one any earlier in the liquidation! This is the same right side of the island that we were looking down in the previous shot. Apparently there were side entrances to the fitting rooms as well; I suppose people didn't have to go exclusively in and out the front entrance to them after all! Note also in this shot the purse picture on the poster, and the extra-large “G” on the jut-out fitting rooms sign.

Obviously it's not the girly billboard which draws his attention, to the point of suspending his licking...

That hunky passer-by in tight-fitting T-shirt, rather?

Why does this view make him so pensive?

Is it because it leads him to question his own sartorial choices of this morning, like donning a down-jacket, and looking like a sissified version of Michelin Man, on account of that chilly 18° temperature ?...

After all, if it were really cold, he would be drinking Glühwein rather than eating a gelato, wouldn't he? ;-)

(shot through a _dirty_ plexiglas screen, sorry for the poor quality...)

This is my terrifically tight fitting black wet look catsuit matched up for this set with my black corset style stretch belt and my super sexy black vinyl thigh high platform boots.

I do hope you like what you see!

A close-up, looking-up shot of the fitting rooms sign, appropriately placed above the fitting rooms (duh!), as well as the accompanying yellow neon. There must not have been an attendant on duty at the time, because otherwise I probably wouldn't have taken this shot!

Looks like a lot of the remaining men's wear was moved up into the women's clothing area near the fitting rooms. I believe this was formerly where intimate apparel once was.

WEEK 24 – Southaven Gordmans Liquidation, Set II

You could definitely see that this store still had as big a crowd as ever as the liquidation rolled into its final stretch based on how filled that parking lot was in the last photo! As we stepped inside on Saturday, April 29th, 2017, that crowd was very much proven to be true; consequently, I quickly migrated to the less populated – and stocked! – parts of the store. First, though, here's a straight-on view of the fitting rooms island. Looks like the poster blocking the sign has thankfully been removed!

Sarek National Park (Swedish: Sareks nationalpark) is a national park in Jokkmokk Municipality, Lapland in the north of Sweden. Established in 1909–1910, the park is one of the oldest national parks in Europe. The shape of the Sarek park is roughly circular with an average diameter of about 50 km (31.07 mi). The park has about 200 peaks over 1,800 m (5,900 ft), 82 of which have names. There are approximately 100 glaciers in the Sarek National Park.

Sarek is a popular area for experienced hikers and mountaineers. There are no marked trails or accommodations and only two bridges aside from those in the vicinity of its borders. The area is among those that receives the heaviest rainfall in Sweden, making hiking dependent on weather conditions. It is also intersected by turbulent streams that are hazardous to cross without proper training. The delta of the Rapa River is considered one of Europe‘s most noted views and the summit of mount Skierfe offers an overlook of that ice-covered, glacial, trough valley.

-----

In 2015, 2016, 2018 and 2020, we pursued four 10+ days long autumn hikes across the unspoiled wilderness of Sarek national park, Lapland, Sweden - definitely one the most beautiful and remote regions in Europe and a true incarnation of the "deep north" expression.

It's difficult to describe Sarek and what it may mean for anyone who hasn't been there yet. It's a special place. A hidden gem. A delight. It's a place where adventure is not only ensured; it's an unavoidable and essential part of the trip. Remote areas, mighty peaks, glaciers one may see only from hills and not from valleys. Unmarked trails, cold glacial rivers, birch woods, reindeer, moose, and other animals.

Some call it the last European wilderness. I don't give a nickname; it would be incomplete and not fitting. Sarek is unique.
