Nice that my favorite flower, the rhododendron, should be the first bloom to appear this year, this the very day that the buds opened. I've always loved this remarkably hardy evergreen, marveling at how it can endure the most extreme cold weather conditions, usually completely buried under snow for months while enduring temps of -30F, only to emerge in the spring with leaves still green and displays like this at the ready. Admirable indeed. I always had these bushes in my more formal gardens previously and finally succumbed to the urge a few years ago by planting a few up here. They have not disappointed.

This to me is the pièce de résistance of S'haven Walmart's apparel section - the fitting rooms with the cool sparks, and modern overhead signage. (Modern now, but of course will look terribly dated before we get too far into the 2020's)! And yep, this is the same fitting rooms signage that suffered (and, if I'm not mistaken, still suffers) from serious issues at the Olive Branch Walmart.

The Frisco local also has a shoving platform for making movements. The head end is entering the CSX Kingsport Sub. Nov 22, 2015.

I got so many complements on my outfit while shopping today :^)

This light fitting and its companion piece, were here when we moved here twenty years ago

JAGO: “Oh hullo there! We didn’t see you there.”

ORSON: “Indeed Jago, we didn’t! You were very quiet, crouching there and peering through Daddy’s front white picket fence.”

DAISY-MAUD: “We were just taking tea.”

ORSON: “It’s such a lovely day, we didn’t want to take tea in the parlour.”

JAGO: “So we decided to have it outside, here in the garden instead.”

DAISY-MAUD: “Would you care to join us? We always have room for friends. There is plenty of hot tea in the pot.”

The theme for "Smile on Saturday" for the 21st of October is "behind the fence", where you have to take a photograph of a fence and something behind it. I am not quite sure whether this will cut the mustard for this theme or not, so I have a second version if it doesn’t. The white out-of-focus bars to either end of the photograph are pickets in my front garden’s white picket fence. Often, if you should happen to pass my house and peer through the pickets on the fence, you will find my bears playing hide-and-seek, celebrating birthday parties, enjoying picnics, or as we find Daisy-Maud, her brother Jago, and friend Orson, taking tea. I hope you like my choice of this week’s theme, and that it makes you smile.

Jago was a gift from a dear friend in England. He is made of English mohair with suede paw pads and glass eyes. He is a gentle bear, kind and patient who carries an air of calm about him. He is already fitting in with everyone else very nicely.

Daisy Maud is Jago's little sister and was made by the same friend in England who made him. She is made of German mohair with floral fabric cotton paw pads that match her pretty sunhat, and glass eyes. A sweet and loving little girl bear, she is happy to be reunited with her big brother, Jago, and enjoys being spoiled by her new Daddy.

Orson, named after the little bear constellation, was made by the same friend who made Jago and Daisy-Maud. He comes ready dressed in 'trousers' made of German mohair accessorised with embroidered braces. His paws are ultra suede and his eyes are glass. He is described as being a little bit serious minded but very friendly. He's fine once he gets to know you.

This beautiful nursery rhyme tea set was made in England by the Shell China Company in the 1930s. It features six cups, saucers and plates as well as a teapot, milk jug and sugar bowl. Each piece is gilt edged and decorated and feature different nursery rhymes including: "Ding Dong Dell Pussy’s in the Well", "The Old Woman Who Lived in a Shoe", "Old King Cole", "Pat a Cake Pat a Cake Baker’s Man", "Little Tommy Tittlemouse", "See Saw Margery Daw" and &This Little Pig Went to Market" amongst others. The set I acquired from England, and it is a sister set to a 1920s Shell China Company nursery rhyme tea set and a 1920s faerie tale tea set. There are also doll (bear) sized tea spoons which are sterling silver salt spoons, and the spoon in the "Little Tommy Tittlemouse" sugar bowl is an Eighteenth Century mustard spoon and is sterling silver.

Italia, Malcesine June 2023

Normal service resumed as my first post-holiday offering is (surprise, surprise) a little something from DRS.

A 6C22 Kingmoor to Sellafield ran on Friday morning.

Although the day dawned brightly it was a little too early-doors for a sleepyhead such as I so I didn't go out for it as I knew that a 66 was up front.

I was already aware that there was a Sellafield - Kingmoor STP in for mid' morning and I suspected that this would be to return the 6C22 loco's to Carlisle. This would mean non-mod' 37 No.37688 at the sharp end.

I'd been planning this shot at Wigton for a couple of years but conditions had never been right.

Two 20s with one flask might just squeeze in but a pair of light-engines would be a dead cert' so this was the time.

No.66429 is the Dred.

Dextrous seen alongside the McTay fitting berth, in Birkenhead East Float, some time in 1984.

Built as part of a two-tug order from Dover Harbour Board, the other tug being named Deft, she was sold to Howard Smith Towage in 2000 for use on the Thames, being renamed Cobham.

She subsequently became HT Cutlass with Adsteam on the Humber.

Her UK service ended in 2013 when Svitzer transferred her to Svitzer Americas for service in Venezuela.

Dextrous has a bollard pull of 29 tonnes and cost a princely £1.5 million to build.

WEEK 22 – Southaven Gordmans Liquidation, Set I

(cont.) ...we're going to take a bit of a detour back toward the front, down yet another actionway. That's right – not only does this store feature the traditional perimeter actionways, but there are two additional front-to-back actionways! (Again, this map might come in handy for visualizing the layout.) In the center of those two front-to-back actionways are the fitting rooms, more or less on an island!

This Kmart in Richmond, Indiana was built in 1960 as a Grants department store. I think this was large for a Grants at the time; this store is 93,160 square feet. The store was turned into a Kmart on June 15th, 1978. In 2001, a Kmart Express gas station was added to the store. The Kmart Express was closed in Summer 2017 (either at end of June or in early July).

WEEK 25 – Columbus Kmart, Set 1

Women's clothing was on either side of that center actionway we just looked at in the previous shot; now, spinning around to look the opposite direction, the children's clothing departments are in front of us – literally, the split between girls' and boys' is plainly visible. Taking advantage of that split is the store's fitting rooms, which is comfortably nestled between the two departments. Its triangle décor remains, but the wall behind it has been painted red; there's also a section of yellow paint visible on the right edge of this shot, and above these, a red stripe can be seen running the perimeter of the store. What's obvious is that these are somewhat-recent updates, but what's not obvious is just when these updates would have taken effect. If anyone knows or has a guess, please leave me a comment!

剛進試衣間...

Old telegraph pole trying to fit into the wood

Everything in the church centres on the Altar of sacrifice, as is fitting and right, for the church building is principally for the Holy Mass celebrated on the Altar. From it the living Church, the People of God, is fed on Christ's Body and Blood, and so is built up as members of his Mystical Body.

Not the usual outfit for the job, but much more fun!

I was shopping at Macy's earlier today and found this top that I really liked. I tried it on in the fitting room and too these pictures of it. It was on sale but I decided not to purchase it.

This wonderful ''totem pole'' like carving was made from the trunk of the in-situ dead tree - made possible by a lady who loved Tropical World here in Roundhay Park and all the animals here....so she left some money in her will, and when she died they commissioned an artist who carved this with a chainsaw direct into the tree trunk....carvings of all the diff animals go all the way around its circumference.....a wonderful legacy...June 2016...Roundhay Park, Leeds, West Yorkshire, UK.

Perhaps the most fitting tribute to Clinker (the racing horse) is to be found at the entrance to his master’s Stable Courtyard. Look up before passing through the first archway and there is the “counterfeit presentment” of Clinker on the stable clock’s weather vane. Clinker is at full gallop, with his jockey wearing the Sitwell racing colours - truly the “speediest of horses”.

WEEK 26 – Aéropostale Closure, Southaven, MS

Now for a look at the fitting rooms. If I remember correctly, the chalkboard signs on the doors were never there prior to the liquidation, though there was admittedly a rather lengthy span between my last pre-liquidation visit and my first post-liquidation visit. I can certainly attest to the lack of air conditioning that note posted outside mentioned, especially since I was inside a small fitting room for a large part of the visit.

Chassis n° XKD526

XKD526 was sold and delivered new in Brisbane (Australia) in 1955. It set a new Australian record for the flying quarter mile of 217,5 km/h at the 1956 Leyburn Sprint, driven by Geordie Anderson. In 1961 it took part in the Australian GT championship, which required the fitting of a hard top, making this the only D-type equipped with such an accessory.
