-[ Z is for Zerk Fitting ]-
Technically named grease fittings, these commonplace check valve-equipped grease gun attachments were nicknamed for their inventor, Osacar Zerk, who improved on a earlier fitting design to create a standard still in use to this day, over 95 years since their debut.
Trying to come up with an unusual Z item, these fittings popped up in my mind early on. I knew I had some, but where I put them was a mystery to me given those synapses that don't fire as reliably as they once did. While digging through a workbench drawer the day of the photo session looking for parts for a project I'd put on hold to devote time to FAFM, I happened upon what you see here. I hadn't planned on using the green protective covers, but difficulty getting the fittings to stand up led to using the covers as supports. The layout, in keeping with the letter of the day, was an evolution of the layout thanks to the tethers on the covers and the number of fittings.
This post closes the book on my third year of participation in FAFM. Again, kudos to both RevDrPepper for this year's edition and the invitation, and to all for your views, faves, and comments. Again, with this Z item, It's time to sign off and cut some Zzzzzs.
These have been taken on my phone and so aren't great when zoomed in sorry.
Here you find me at Hemyca London having the lace work added to the mock up dress body. this is all part of the process of having a bespoke dress made. Its a time consuming process but very enjoyable as it give me some input into the dress so its a one off specially for me.
You have decided to plan a day out trying to portray yourself as a female as best as you can. The evening before you give yourself a manicure and perfect polish, make sure you are silky smooth all over before stepping into a scented warm bubble bath and relax with a nice glass of wine. After drying yourself off you dust your body with sweet smelling powder and then slip into some sensuous and slippery lingerie. You go through your closet to pick out your outfit, heels, lingerie, and accessories for your outing. You spend the remainder of the evening leafing through current fashion magazines looking at the latest styles and fashion trends before retiring to a blissful sleep with anticipation of the coming day.
You wake up feeling refreshed and feminine with a bounce in your step and smile on your face. The day is here and you run your checklist in your head to make the most of it. You bathe, primp, and perfume your self before putting on your panties and bra and set about to do a great makeup job for your transformation. Satisfied with the results you begin the process of putting on your outfit, adjusting your accessories, and doing your hair. It's about time to go on your shopping journey and you check yourself in the mirror about 100 times. You load your purse with everything that a girl will need and cautiously step out of the door and into your car. As you are driving there you now have the realization you have entered the public world as a female and your natural movements and reactions change to meet how you are dressed. You notice other women driving to wherever they are going and you notice men in cars maybe looking over as they do admiring your womanly image.
You arrive at your shopping destination and your heart picks up a few beats. You are excited but also nervous as the time has come to exit your semi protective shell of your vehicle and present your female self in real life! You check your makeup, hair, and make sure all clothing is in place and next thing you know you are out and walking towards the stores. It feels like a good dream you are having but you know it's real. Very real. Your mind plays tricks with you and you think people are going to stop and stare at you but that doesn't really happen. Oh sure, some women will look at you but that's because women check out other women judging their style of fashion choices, it's natural. You enter the store and find the closest mirror to once again check out your appearance. You scan the store layout and get a plan of action going on the fly. First you check out the handbags and all the amazing varieties there, and then over to the shoe department. You look at some styles and when you are asked if you need some help you have already decided an a few you want to try on. They bring them out and have so much fun trying them on, walking around in them, and seeing how they look on you. Now over to the clothing sections (usually the dress dept. for me!) and you look through the selections with other women all around you. Women are very focused here and they are not paying attention to what you are doing and you are fitting in as one of them! You are dressed similarly, wearing the same types of clothes they are, and displaying the same interest in the fashions. You pick out a few things to try on and go over to the dressing room area and get shown a room to use. This is major acceptance of being a female and you sure feel it! Even if you don't choose anything to purchase just trying on different styles gets you on a great high. Ending this store visit at the cosmetics counters is a really great experience. All of sudden you realize that you are getting MORE attention from the consultants than the other women there! Maybe it's because they think you need their help more or maybe they figure you're more apt to buy beauty products from them but it's another good feeling. I have learned more about makeup products and applications from these people than anywhere and they always offer to re-do something on your face so you can see the difference. It's enjoyable to sit there and have people look at what they are doing anyways!
Time flies when you are having fun and now for another cool experience is finding a nice spot to refuel. You go into an eatery and maybe have a light salad dish and lemon water with everyone treating you as the lady you appear to be. Now with your female confidence built up you decided to push the envelope and step out into the crowded mall, walk around and stop in some stores. I have shopped in the malls a lot and not just for clothes. I have shopped for beauty supplies, home furnishings, electronics, and being gutsy perhaps a shirt for "him" which is a unique experience as you are bound to be waited on by a male sales person! As hours zip by and you are planning to head back home a certain urge to continue your girl's day out takes over. Could I? Should I? Oh why the heck not! You decided to further immerse yourself into femininity and take the chance on going to a upscale happy hour!! I have to tell you that some of my best social outings have been at these venues! That same exciting and nervous feeling as earlier when you first exited your vehicle happens all over. As you take a seat at the bar people will check you out more so than at a store or in a mall. That should be expected as you are now in a more social gathering spot and everyone is under more scrutiny. You keep a smile on your face and initiate conversation with bartenders, servers, and other patrons and now all of sudden they are eating out of your hand. People have interest in unique and "different" types of people. Some won't know your aren't the genuine article and some of course will know but if you are pleasant and interesting it all goes really well! I have met so many nice people this way and I tell them the truth about what and why I do what I do and have had very positive reactions from both males and females. After some social intercourse and being on cloud nine you realize you have been out in the world as a female for some 9 or 10 hours! You drive home in the happiest of moods and when you sit back and reflect on the days events you just have to pinch yourself to make sure it was real. It was real, very real, and you understand what it feels like to be a female! If you are still reading this, kudos to you and you probably understand my need to ramble on!!
This spectacular double horn is fitted to a 1904 French-built de Dion Bouton. I must admit to not really being a car fan but I do like looking at some aspects, including in this instance the varieties of brass fittings and hood ornaments. This was the only double horn I saw on the cars on display.
There were some 40 veteran cars parked on Lower Regent Street on Saturday, when the Royal Automobile Club held an event in conjunction with the 125th running of the London-to-Brighton Veteran Car Run, which took place yesterday, 7 November 2021.
The car on which the horn was mounted had a tourer body and a four-cylinder 20-hp engine. The registration was GIG 1904.
What surprised me was the volume on the horns - considerably louder than a modern car horn at a distance of 3m for each, one of which was bass and one more baritone or tenor.

As the 2011 Willow Creek Productions Charter drew to a close, the D&RGW Mixed Train was brought to the most well-known spot on the line....the High Line Horseshoe (MP 469.4) at Rockwood. Here, the train did a series of run-bys, taking advantage of the late afternoon sun. Photographers fanned out for their last shots, some climbing high on the rocks, and others going for low angles. Here's a rare view of DRGW #478 and her train, as viewed from a rock shelf below the railroad grade.

After weeks of renovation, the downstairs room of the dollhouse addition is ready to furnish. This room served as a millinery shop when the addition was originally part of this house (I was 18). Since it has an exterior door, it may serve as a shop again sometime. I considered adding a fireplace along this wall like I did in each room of the main house, but I decided not to due to space. I regret that decision a little, but happy to have a full wall.

A week ago I was at a SecondLife Dance show - of whihc I photo captured dance choreographer / drancer Maar Volous perform a beautiful dance on stage. One of the photos I process looked so much like it belonged on a Cameo Brotch. So I used photoshop and blended the photo of her with a fitting antique metal brotch. Then placed it over top a wood table backdrop.
Just was playing with Photoshop.
Not the roads real name, it is actually Holme Road on the outskirts of Ringstead in Norfolk, but for the purpose of the photo I think the name is fitting. :)
Fitting to see Paul in the Clutha as it re-opened. Worried, we were told he was lost after the tragedy. Drank beer, cool it is open. Glasgow!

After having dinner in the greenhouse at my mother-in-law's, I noticed an emerald wasp (aka cuckoo wasp) on the white wood between the windows.
Normally, when I stick my camera in their face they get moving, but not this one. He/she was literally dead tired after trying to get out of the hot greenhouse though the windows all afternoon.
After snapping this photo: www.flickr.com/photos/tinyturtle/53034793528/, I tried moving it, but it just fell down on the window sill - crumbled up and looking dead.
I eventually managed to get it off there (my MIL's large tomato plants in the way) and took a shot of it in my hand before dropping it onto the table here: www.flickr.com/photos/tinyturtle/53571746819/
Then my mother-in-law came in with an assist and gave me a cup with a little sugar water to attempt to get the wasp up and running again.
At first, I put a drop of sugar water in front of it and moved it to it, but didn't get a reaction. Legs were still folded in under it and the antennae flat against the body.
After a little while with no improvement, I picked it up by the ends of the wings and literally stuck most of its head into the sugar water (as pictured here: www.flickr.com/photos/tinyturtle/53065396272/ and here: www.flickr.com/photos/tinyturtle/55063981508/) - Still not much of a reaction, but a foot began twitching!
Eventually a whole leg began to move, but not much else and I was pretty much giving up at this point - but I left it on/in the sugar water.
Finally, after fifteen minutes in the sugar, I decided this wasn't working and pulled it out - but it did! the tiny wasp began fluttering its wings a bit and actually walking around!
After the mandatory antennae grooming, it walked up onto my finger (www.flickr.com/photos/tinyturtle/53498042956/) and I went outside and placed it on top of the bee hotel in the garden, looking just as speedy as it should: www.flickr.com/photos/tinyturtle/53429153570/
The species is called Chrysis equestris and doesn't have a common English name, but the Swedish one, "regnbågsguldstekel", meaning rainbow emerald wasp seems quite fitting, right?

I'm very happy how my make up looks today. Best of all, I've finally found a set of eyelashes that enhance my eyes without looking too heavy. These look quite real and I wore them all day. In fact, most of the time I forgot they were there!
A bit of fun, based on my image of a goldfinch (carduelis carduelis). Original concept shown below. I like to experiment and build on my photoshop skills.
Capture taken in my garden at 400mm focal length. The goldfinch is perching on budding cotoneaster.
Thanks for all comments and fave adds. Appreciated.
First off, yes I am aware there is a pattern clash issue here. I was just having Daisy try out a few old things of mine for size....not to go out in. Just the same, I wanted to get a few pictures for reference purposes. Though frankly, there isn't a snowball's chance I'd ever convince Daisy to wear this top in public. She's far too squeamish about her arms and shoulders for that. And unfortunately, this skirt really doesn't fit her. I've got it pinned in the back..and even so it slides down when she walks. Just getting some ideas for the summer season...that's all. 😊
I have been working on my model the last two Sundays. I fitted the small awning on the smaller door. It fits really nicely. I've not glued it on yet as I have more window signs to put on the windows. :D

Thank you SO much Anita for letting me adopt Cherry Bomb! She is fitting in perfectly.. I just love her so much. I am still so excited to have her here! :) The first thing she wanted to do was check out the teddies and wardrobe..
Ex Target Travel E200 fits in nicely to the Citybus fleet, it often appears working route 25 around the Barbican / Hoe.
It has those horrid LED blinds which rarely come out in pictures, that's about the only bad thing with it!
