Down to the Marina at Caleta de Fuste, Fuerteventura, hoping to catch another glorious sunrise only to find the place was shrouded in a heavy morning mist. Once the sun eventually managed to break through, the mist soon dispersed. Although the mist was quite thick, the harbour’s starboard beacon was still visible; as it should be….!

A pre-dawn image from this morning at Roker pier.

Being full of cold and wide awake from 3am, I made the decision to venture out and capture this morning's sunrise (Insomnia has its use) It was nice to finally be out and about after the poor spell of weather lately.

The wind was quite strong so I had to shelter the camera during the exposure.

I was checking our sprinkler system just as the sun was rising. This shot was unplanned, but the sun aligned with this tower when I reached for my camera. Serendipity!

The Mew Gull is a very pretty one and among my preferred one, but what I love mostly here is the beautiful colours the sun is offering when rising over the lagoon.

FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE – MATT MONRO

I cannot sleep

I walk the street

deserted now and Winter bleak

the Beast strike two sweeps from the East

from Russia with love

and Scandinavia sends me the sweetest dove

that sings so beautifully in first light

and tugs my heart strings makes me fight

against the darkness that has silenced me

the icy grip that will not set me free

will you walk one day in my shoes

and I will walk one day in yours

reconvene as midnight strikes on the hour

settle up outstanding scores

no I didn't think so ...

these wounds are more mine than yours

I don't doubt that you have suffered

but this does not detract

from this haunting melancholy melody

that plays upon the loop on a single solemn track

my tears freeze on my cheeks as I give way and mourn

and wandering silently I try to weather this latest storm

I can hear you wondering what is she saying now

but I took a vow of silence and once upon a time somehow

the circle of life goes round and round

it spins and turns and hits the ground

running here and running there

finding nothing no-one cares

people live their lives in drifts

to speak out loud won't heal the rifts

each to our own and own your grief

as I own mine and place a wreath

upon the frozen snowbound land

and reach out for an invisible hand

I still feel the warmth where once

a loving hand that was yours held mine

before this day and love grew cold

and squeezed the warmth from all the sunshine

devoid of all my spent emotions

I trickled back to whence I'd come

the house where I just go through the motions

waiting is so futile for you'll not be coming home

now all the world begins to waken

and I at last fall into bed

my mind is slowing my thoughts are leaving

oblivion takes me and cushions my emptying head

and when I wake for just a moment

I won't remember anything

the time between my sleep and waking

is the most precious time I think

where child-like innocence still exists

and adult worries are cast aside

I wish that it could last for longer

so I don't have to run and hide

now is the calm not before but after

the storm that is named as Mr Darcy

and pride came first before the fall

and the prejudice against me was the wrecking ball.

Nod to Todd Hido (thanks Dan! : 0))

A sleeping Quebec City wakes up slowly. Sitting high above the city at Terrasse Pierre-Dugua-De-Mons with our mini tripod and a cup of coffee in hand I enjoyed the sunrise and this incredible view in [almost] complete isolation.

“Terrasse Pierre-Dugua-de Mons, at the end of popular Rue St. Denis, is a welcome oasis (it's part of the larger Champs-de-Bataille park). The green space has views of the ever-magnificent Chateau Frontenac, as well as the Dufferin Terrace and the city of Levis (a picturesque destination on the south shore of the St. Lawrence). It's a relaxing, grassy stopping point and is a nod to the city's history—it's named after French merchant and colonizer Pierre Dugua. Dugua is the one who gave the order for Samuel de Champlain to found a French trading point, better known today as Quebec City.”

First light behind Moel Siabod during a busy weekend for Snowdonia! Thankfully we ventured to some of the less popular peaks and didn’t see a soul!

North Myrtle Beach Sunrise

One of my favorite shots from the expedition. First light in the morning at the sand dunes. SOOC with a polarizer filter.

Pre-dawn over Cape Hatteras at Buxton, North Carolina, June 27, 2020.

First light graces the peaks of the Continental Divide: (l to r) Navajo Peak (13409 ft / 4087 m), Apache Peak (13441 ft / 4097 m), and Shoshoni Peak (12967 ft / 3952 m). Despite the advancing change of seasons there were still flowers out, mainly in areas with late-lying snow such as the foreground. Lake Isabelle is just up over the rise, but as per usual this time of year the water level was low to meet irrigation needs downstream (there's tunnel that drains the lake, which is in the middle of a wilderness area).

The morning silence is interrupted by the roar of EMDs as the Indiana Railroad's HWSZT rolls along with seven locomotives. Taken just west of Sullivan, IN, about 10 minutes after sunrise.

Waking up at 4 am and trekking up to Poon Hill 3210 m Nepal in darkness and in freezing coldness from Ghorepani 2800m took almost 1.5 hrs but the effort was well rewarded a spectacular view of the Himalayan Snow Mountains Range directly infront of me with people from all over the world.

Decided on some deep archive dipping… again, and came across this image. Couldn’t believe I’d overlooked it first time round. Played with the colours… a bit of punch to the lighthouse in Vivsea2 and hey presto!

Moved it into my Wales folder and lo and behold… already processed the same bloody image!

Sod it… I’m uploading it as a reworked image.
