First light on Glacier Park's Grinnell Point with a small portion of Swiftcurrent Falls below it.
Sure glad I'm an early riser.
A closer view of that pretty falls in comments.
Enjoy a wonderful Wednesday!
First light on Mt. Rainier reflected in Tipsoo Lake.
Stumbling around in the dark and fidgeting in the chill waiting for the show to begin is such a wonderful way to start a day. Often fighting off one's pillow and getting out so early doesn't lead to a worthy shot, but the gamble and anticipation is more than worth the time dedicated. Plus a good nap later.....
A couple shots from later this morning in comments.
I appreciate your views, comments, faves and support. Thanks!
Have a great week!
This is another shot I took at Notre Dame, Paris! I was there during blue hour and waited some time for this shot! I was blessed to have a boat passing by just as I was about to take the first light. My photography hobby has been motivating me to get up early. Kinda enjoy it. Hope you are enjoying your journey as well. :)

Dawn arrives at the Valdez marina. I can still smell the ocean/fishing odors and the various sounds of the boats and crews getting ready for another day of world-class fishing. I was very impressed with the beauty and character of Valdez.

Happy Friday!
Daybreak beckons within the silhouetted framework of the Milwaukee Art Museum. Flickr friends, this will be my last post for 2015. I'd like to take this chance to wish all of you Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! Thanks for the gift of your friendship and I look forward to more Flickr fun and photo sharing in 2016 :)

There's such a satisfying feeling as a photographer, when you reach a location before sunrise, when everything is still dark and deep hues of blue and grey, and the first light of the sun begins to illuminate the world in front of your lens.
Standing in the depths of Zion Canyon on a blustery winter morning, my eyes tearing from the sub-freezing gusts, the anticipation is palpable. When the first hint of light starts to warm the Towers and Temple of the Virgin under a still deep blue sky, it is truly one of the Creator's great ceremonies.

A new day begins at Banff's Two Jack Lake with Mt. Rundle in the distance. Precious moments like this are never forgotten.
Wishing you a wonderful week!
Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes in Death Valley at dawn.
It is an adventure in itself to hike into the dunes with a headlamp in complete darkness and wait for the first light ...
Calm, as if on a raft of clarity
and stillness, lying on my back,
I drifted into morning, into morning light
where water, land, and sky were one, and even so
as much themselves as ever – not a thing was lost.

WOW, we are at Explore!! Thank you so very much!!
The ancients used to treat greeting the sun at first light as a religious experience. A new day begins out of the dark night of the soul. Today we are more intent on catching that exact moment when the sun appears with our various light sensing devices (I can't say camera anymore).
Crowfoot Mountain catching the first rays of a new day reflected in Bow Lake.
Who needs coffee when one has this.......OK, gotta have that first cup.
Happy Friday!
The first rays of a new day strike massive Mt. Rundle casting some color on Two Jack Lake. A fine start to a great day in my favorite region.
Massive as in: "Mt. Rundle could actually be considered a small mountain range as the mountain extends for over 12 kilometres (7.5 mi), on the south side of the Trans-Canada Highway eastward from Banff to Canmore with seven distinct peaks along the way."
Thanks for taking a look and for any comments, faves and suggestions!
Have a wonderful Sunday!

As the morning sun clears the opposite rim of the canyon behind me, the Towers and the Temples of the Virgin seem to light on fire before the lens.
I wish that warm colors would have reflected some sort of heat, but it was actually around 20°F with strong, gusty winds when I took this photo.
The Narrows in Zion National Park seems to get all of the attention from hikers and photographers, and I can absolutely understand why, but for many, the strenuous hike, through the cold, rocky Virgin River may be daunting. My advice is not to let that deter you from visiting Zion - especially in the winter - there is an amazing diversity in color, texture, and feel throughout the park, and it is well worth a visit.

Christmas Day comes to San Francisco, chilly and clear. The boys and girls still nestled in their beds will soon be filled with cheer.
The young lady trying to keep warm in the vehicle behind me, though appreciative of her dad's efforts to catch a glorious sunrise, would have much rather been in bed.

In the past two days I've shown you the view at Turners Marsh looking west towards the setting moon. Today we get a chance to turn the camera around to the east. This beautiful rural valley is rich pastures for sheep and cattle.
The first thing we notice here is the beautiful early light as the sun makes its way to the horizon. But if you look closely you'll see evidence of a slight overnight frost. To the left under that big old tree you'll see a resting cow taking in the scene. Et in Arcadia Ego.
[If you double click enlarge you can see a Kookaburra on the wire fence behind and to the right of the cow.]

Waking up to this view early this morning (5:38am), the colors got better and better then started to fade as sunrise (6:21am) approached.
Thank you for your visit! ❤️

Well, Venus is the goddess of love and beauty, and she makes an appearance, here, over the Pinto Mountains in Joshua Tree National Park.
Driving along the Pinto Basin Road, it was impossible not to stop and take in first light over the mountains. The surreal Joshua Trees, the cool desert floor, the blue/purple mountains in the distance. Simply beautiful. Great show, Venus ...second to none!
Took awhile for the clouds to clear this lovely morning for the first light to caress the top of Pyramid Peak, rising above Pyramid Lake. I liked the rocky foreground as well.
Pyramid Mountain in Jasper National Park stands at an elevation of 2,763 m (9,064 ft), the highest peak in the vicinity and one of the most photogenic. Aptly named for its shape in 1859 by geologist and naturalist, James Hector, the peak is part of the Victoria Cross Range.
Another pic of this iconic peak in comments that gives a better pyramidal view.
Enjoy your Sunday and week ahead!
