I wanted to set up for a shot straight down the middle of Hollywood Blvd., but I had to settle for an off-center view due to a merch cart. This view was actually surprisingly easy to get, I didn't have to camp out long at all.

The Chaos sequence of Illuminations.

One thing I am looking forward to in May is shooting Wishes and Illuminations as many nights as I can.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Fireworks Friday - From one of my top 5 places to view Illuminations , the Japan Pavilion.

After all the night photos this week, I thought I would change it up for Fireworks Friday. Have a great weekend everyone!

Is fireworks Friday still a thing? Well if it isn't, I guess I can just look like a old fogie.

I miss this show, and it's final song is a message of hope that feels extremely appropriate right now in these crazy times.

"We go on

To the joy and through the tears

We go on

To discover new frontiers

Moving on

With the current of the years.

We go on

Moving forward, now as one

Moving on

With a spirit born to run

Ever on

With each rising sun.

To a new day

We go on."

On Saturday! I have been real bad about getting shots up the past few months. Here is one from Pixelmania's first night back in October. Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Fireworks Friday! This was taken during the week that WDW showed the Disney's Celebrate America fireworks show the whole week of July 4th. Thanks for looking and have a great weekend!

I knew that if I headed up the entrance to Paradise Pier, I might be able to see Disneyland's fireworks from DCA. I wasn't specifically looking for them, but I was in the right place at the right time!

Single exposure, 15 seconds with my 2 stop ND filter

Another shot from the path from DHS to Epcot. Thanks for looking and have a great weekend!

Here is my last one from the path between the Boardwalk and DHS. Thanks for looking and have a great weekend!

Illuminations from the Germany Pavilion from June - there was a different spot I wanted to try in Germany but it was roped off so this was the next best spot.

Here is a shot of Illuminations for Fireworks Friday as well as Freedom Friday.

This is a unique Friday for me since it will be my last day at my current job.

This job has been a great experience with a great team. However this job has been taking up a significant portion of my time outside of the workplace (thank you laptops and internet access). I can deal with overtime. That is a regular part of the accounting world, but there gets to be a point where it is taken to extremes and other areas of your life begin to suffer. My new job appears to be one where I can go home and be “home.” I will be able to spend time with my family and focus on other things that matter to me again, which will be nice. I might even start posting and commenting on Flickr again. We’ll see.

In the meantime happy Friday and my prayers go out to my friends on the Eastern seaboard. Keep your heads down this weekend. Hopefully Irene won’t be as bad as she looks right now. Also, hopefully, my parents and great aunt, who are at sea on their way to New York, will be able catch a flight home to Tampa before Irene hits.

Thanks for looking!

I first attempted this shot back in January 2009. I was headed from Disney's Hollywood Studios to the Magic Kingdom to shoot the fireworks from Main Street but was running late and couldn't set up at Casey's Corner where I planned to shoot that night so I went off looking for other spots and happened to find this location by accident. The shots from that first attempt were less than acceptable. I managed to either badly underexpose the scene or to blow out the fireworks in every shot I took that night.

When I started planning out locations to shoot the fireworks during my recent Pixelmania trip, I decided to try this location again. This time, I had a new tool in my bag, a 4x6 LEE split grad ND filter and a LEE holder that would allow me to darken the sky while not affecting the Liberty Belle Riverboat or the buildings. I'm very happy to report that it worked perfectly.

When all of the good photo spots are taken during Hallowishes, one has to look for alternatives. A calm and reflective Rivers of America and the Liberty Belle riverboat provide a lovely foreground to some bursts that remind me of candy pumpkins.

This is one of two shots that I can actually see all the fireworks. It was so humid that evening with little to no wind that 2 minutes into the show all we saw were smoke clouds that would light up from a burst. The next night was better. Thanks for looking and have a great weekend!

The Happily Ever After Fireworks show has replaced Wishes. For those of you whom have seen both shows, which do you like better?

9/4/15 "Let it go!" -Frozen

Happy #frozenfriday and #fireworksfriday everyone! Speaking of all things frozen, Disneyland just announced that the holidays WILL be coming to Disneyland and California Adventure for the Winter Season! We don't know exactly just what they'll do yet with the Diamond Celebration decor and the Holiday decor, but we're sure they'll come up with something good! Who's excited?

I was quite pleased with how much easier it was to get a location when shooting at DHS, I got this spot about 45 minutes prior but at showtime there were very few people around me. It was a nice change. Thanks for looking and have a great weekend.

This is from the last night of Disney's Celebrate America 4th of July fireworks show. Thanks for looking and have a great weekend!

Fireworks Friday! So I decided to shoot Illuminations from the back of one of the countries, that way I woul not have to worry about being on the rail at 7:30. I had seen a great shot by Katie Marino from Italy and decided to go there. This was the first shot I got, but only had about 3 or 4 keepers. Thanks for looking and have a great weekend!

Another shot from the opening night of Hollywood Studio's new Star Wars fireworks spectacular!

Here's another shot of the Queen Mary's fireworks as seen from Signal Hill on Fourth of July. I was going in for a tighter crop but I just couldn't bear to cut out the rest of the scene! I know it's nearly identical to my last shot here, but I like the perfectly graduated, monochrome bursts.

Here is another from the Top of the World Lounge in Bay Lake Tower. What I like about shooting here is I can get a drink and some food, and not have to fight anyone to find a spot for my tripod. Thanks for looking and have a great weekend!

I'm getting a head start on Fireworks Friday because I won't be home to upload photos until later tomorrow. My Dad is taking me out on the catamaran in the morning and he's picking up an underwater disposable camera. Hopefully I'll have something halfway decent to post :)

As for this shot, I had to go back to retry this location because the lack of winds last time made for a very thick cover of smoke that the fireworks had to compete with. On this evening, the winds were working to my advantage. This is also the first non HDR fireworks shot I've done in awhile. It's a single exposure but I did use a second to help control the lanterns and lamps.

Part of the Holiday Tag at the end of the show.

Fireworks Friday - True Love section of Wishes. True Love conquers all. Have a Happy Valentines weekend all you lovers out there!!

Symphony In the Stars during the Empire section as viewed from the EPCOT Resorts walkway. This was a really good place to shoot from, and I expect I'll be out here often during the summer for the Frozen fireworks.

Made it! Happy Friday everyone! Have an awesome long weekend!

As for the shot, this is a 2 shot HDR, edited with Camera Raw, CS5, and some Nik software.

Please don't hesitate to tell me what you think, comments and constructive criticism are welcome and appreciated! :)

I've been absent from Flickr for quite a while now, but not for a lack of shots I'd like to post! I don't know if this will become a habit again, but I do enjoy sharing and it helps me challenge myself to improve my shots and continue to grow as a photographer. For now enjoy this #fireworksfriday shot from Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party at the Magic Kingdom!

Forzen Summer Fun - Disney's Hollywood Studios

Seeing this show made me wish that Hollywood Studios had a regular nighttime fireworks show. Fantasmic is great, but fireworks on Hollywood boulevard is just a lot of fun. Thanks for looking!

Fireworks Friday!! Disney's Celebrate America fireworks show was a wonderful change from Wishes. We were lucky enough to arrive on the last day of the "Limited Time Magic" for this on July 7th. Thanks for looking and have a great weekend!

Illuminations is my favorite fireworks show at WDW, and there are so many different angles to view it from. This view may not be the best in person, but I think the gate adds interest to the foreground for shots like this one.

Thanks for looking!

Fireworks Friday! This is from Hallowishes back in 2011 at Pixelmania. Looking forward to shooting this again in October at Pixelmania 2014! Thanks for looking and have a great weekend!

dailydisneyland365: Thank you @j.manahan @the_mouse_moms for the kind thoughts!

While this is the second time I've shot from the castle, it's the first time I've had a camera where I could stop down enough to not blow out all of the foreground bursts! I was thrilled at the possibility, so right after the parade I found a spot in the second row that wasn't in anybody's way. I set up a bracket and waited. Half an hour later, when the foot traffic started to increase and the crowd control CMs took out their glow sticks, that's when my tripod got bumped so my bracket wasn't aligned. And then the marine layer started rolling in, so much so that you couldn't see the actual fireworks! Cest le vie. At least the light painting in the foreground fits in with the Haunted Mansion sequence :)

The holiday tag for Illuminations may be the loudest fireworks display I've ever heard. It also makes for a fun and challenging display to photograph because of the intensity and chaos of the finale portion. Here is the very first bit of it, right before they blow up more pyro than the rest of the show combined in about one minute.

Last Saturday I originally planned on shooting the Star Wars Weekends fireworks from the end of Hollywood Blvd., but a merch cart ended up blocking my view, so I started looking for a new spot around 8:30. I went up to the side of the stage where they had the area around Great Movie Ride roped off and decided to set up right there with my fisheye and see how things turned out.

Or How I Learned To Stop Worrying And Post The Blown Shots Anyway

On Tuesday I visited the park for Mickey's Halloween Party! It was the first time I've been and I loved it. Mike and Bill saved me and Diane a spot right at the rope for the Halloween Screams fireworks show. I knew that the close proximity would lead to blown shots on everything fired in Fantasyland and it was a very hazy night which meant that I'd be blowing out the regular bursts as well but I decided that I was going to post whatever I could come up with. I went mono because the thick sky, multi-colored castle and reflective pavement pushed the color shots into clown vomit territory.

I took the opportunity to shoot the Frozen Fireworks 3 different times earlier this month and they did not disappoint. Thanks to the dude who warned me the CM would make me move back a few feet (and possible lose my spot)! Thanks for looking and have a great weekend!

This year for the 4th, I didn't make any solid plans. I could have gone to Disneyland but I didn't make that a priority because I assumed the crowds were going to be unbearable. Instead I took my time at the hospital with Alan and spent the evening with my dad and step mom in Long Beach. I didn't get there till 8 and they had dinner waiting for me, so we didn't leave the house until about 8:30. I told my dad that all I wanted was an interesting foreground and since the entire beach and downtown area would have been packed at that point, we headed for higher ground. Naturally there were barricades all along Signal Hill so we wouldn't have access to Hilltop Park but dad took us to Home Depot because the parking lot is high above the street and although there is some obstruction, there are some very nice views. You could see the coastline alight with bursts, in addition to the many, MANY illegal fireworks being set off (Long Beach has a ban on fireworks so the people who choose to set them off will go all out and buy aerial pyro). Unfortunately that thick haze in the sky was not conducive to the 180 pano I was hoping for. But I was able to frame the Queen Mary's fireworks against the downtown area and the industrial remnants of Signal Hill.
