Fireflies all came out at once. The moon started to rise, and the fireflies started their dance. As far as you could see, these electrifying creatures came alive.

Subject: Catskills Fireflies 2012
Location: Delaware County, NY (Catskills)
Twelve 5-minute exposures at ISO1600 with Canon T2i (550D) DSLR and Canon EF 24mm f/1.4 lens wide open at f/1.4. Focus was done on the background trees, and then moved inward to where most of the firefiles were expected. The camera was mounted on a fixed tripod, and was tethered to a laptop using a USB cable, and the 5-minute exposures were timed with EOS utility.
Processing: raw conversion to TIFF using Canon Digital Photo Professional. The twelve TIFF images were combined using Photoshop "apply image" processing with "lighten" mode, then downsizing and JPEG conversion with Photoshop (no levels, curves, sharpening, etc.). This is the full frame from the T2i. Image calibration (dark frames, flat frames, etc.) was not done.
It was clear and moonless -- SQM-L ranged from 21.3 to 21.5 during these exposures, depending (I guess) where the milky way was and how much it interfered with the readings.
Soft-bodied beetles commonly called fireflies, lightning bugs, or glowworms for their conspicuous production of light, mainly during twilight, to attract mates.
Fireflies! This picture, taken from our deck, is a combination of 11 separate shots with a total exposure time of 94 seconds. (Canon 70D, 400mm, f/16, ISO 800 in Ann Arbor, Michigan.)

An image of dancing fireflies beneath a starry sky, on summer solstice eve, June 20, 2014, on a stormy night with many thunderstorms about. To the southeast here skies were clear but clouds and another storm was moving in from the west at right. But it was a warm night so the fireflies were dancing, caught here as the green lights trailing in the foreground. The sky is bright from perpetual twilight and the ground is partly lit by distant lightning.
The forground is a stack of 3 exposures to add more firefly lights, but the sky is just one exposure, 25s at ISO 3200 at f/2.8 with the 16-35mm lens and Canon 6D.

Last night I was driving around and I saw this field full of fireflies so I pulled over and grabbed the tripod.

Goodbye Mr. Chandelier, I hated you so very much...you were the worst thing to clean.

From Arkham Origins. I made his helmet, grenade thingys, jetpacks, and shoulder things out of clay. The wings are cardboard.
This Waymo Firefly is one from a series of testing vehicles for autonomous driving. It doesn't have a steering wheel or other controls for the driver. In 2015 it was used for the world’s first totally self-driving trip in Austin, TX. Waymo stopped use of the Firefly in 2017 and now has a fleet of adapted vehicles from regular car brands. This one is on display in the Computer History Museum in Mountain View, CA.
