Reworking of an old shot from a trip across the Simpson Desert in Australia in June 2017.
Our campsite was just north of the QAA Line on the border between Queensland and the Northern Territory. The Small Magellanic Cloud is visible on the left while the Large Magellanic Cloud is in the centre just above the horizon.
PCA294 - Fire
Built a small fire in the backyard and then tossed in a old book I found in a dumpster. Upped the clarity and the shadows a bit. Cropped slightly. I took many shots of the book during its conversion into heat and light. I liked this one because of the way it morphed into some other entity before falling into ash.
The Fire Wave rock formation in Valley of Fire, Nevada State Park. I've been there a few times now, and each time I have come away with a good shot. Really beautiful place to visit, and only an hour or so outside of Vegas. This formation known as the Fire Wave is probably the most famous thing to see in the park, and I wanted to photograph it the first time I came here. But while exploring the park, I found a lot of other things that interested me and I think are even better compositions than this wave. Hopefully I will be posting them soon. Enjoy on black background.

Yesterday from I25. Fire at La Joya. Taken from 5 miles away. Fortunately, overnight it has been contained. 300 acres (1/2 sq. mile) burned. So far the reason for the fire unknown.
Batchelor Heights
Kamloops, B.C.
In all the years I've lived in Kamloops (about 25 years total), I've never seen a wildfire come so close to the city. There were 12 homes evacuated. These were about a mile from where I live and I took these photos from a parking lot across from my home. The initial moments, as high winds fanned up the flames, were terrifying. All is under control now though.

Fire fly (Lampyridae) - Yasuni National Park, Ecuador
I was watching this tiny fire fly wander around on the surface of a leaf. It circled the perimeter, stopped to drink from a droplet and then took flight. Luckily I was waiting and the angle was right!
Uma tentativa rabugenda de fazer algo descente com o fogo, essa foi a menos ruim, perdi a paciência depois da miléssima tentativa... :P
Started as a spaceship concept made of pure fire. Don't know if that really comes out. But my flames are rare since the burn, so I cannot build a bigger spaceship with this concept...maybe one day...
For now this is it.
Sidekick of this.
