A couple of images from the summer of 2010 when I was pursuing about a theme about sleep and dreams. I've always found bedrooms to be amongst the most evocative and moody of places, the room between worlds, the womb between realities, with its contrasts of light and dark, the luminescent glow of skin and cloth juxtaposed with shadows full of dreams and fears...the sleeper, half alive, half dead, now free of all constraints, expectations, laws and beliefs, free to roam their own versions of life, pursue their own desires and wishes...the secrets of sleep, locked away in forgetfulness at the touch of reality.

Talking of the real world check out this vid, amazing and awe inspiring, we humans can be beautiful clever buggers can't we! youtu.be/AwTd08P4E3k

Here I'm using an old trick to find the exact center of the ring so I can drill a pilot hole. Basically, a 45 degree angle will bisect a circle places on a right angle. You mark the bisecting line, spin the circle a bit, then mark the next and bingo - you have the circle center.

Cause it is really too hot to be outside.... I just checked Weather.com and it actually says "dangerous Heat Index" and "Limit Outdoor Exposure" I do not know if I have ever seen that. The temp is 99 degrees and it feels like 106. I will not be sorry to finish August.

Trying out HDR on 3 shots with -1.3, 0, +1.3 EV. I don't think it'll become a habit.

I've got a frog in my throat. Another time it was a little hoarse. And I'm always having to put a sock in it. Needless to say I have to have a clear out now and again... ;O)

It's never to late to find a hero. I knew nothing of Saul Leiter until I chanced upon a selection of his photographs in a colour supplement several months after his death. A collage of pictures covered the top two thirds of the double page spread, below were supporting words. This shows proper respect for the photographer, the pictures come first, they speak for themselves. When the photographs have had their say, then words come into play. The written part of the presentation was a repeat of a previously published obituary, it closed with these words: “I like it when one is not certain what one sees,” he [Saul Leiter] said, in a rare interview just before he died. “When we do not know why the photographer has taken a picture and when we do not know why we are looking at it, all of a sudden we discover something that we start seeing. I like this confusion.”

These words appeal to me, often I'm not sure what I'm looking at, and sometimes I don't even know why I've clicked the shutter, but that last short sentence of the obituary causes me concern. I don't like confusion. I spend many hours trying to understand what I have seen, and I spend more hours find words that accurately convey my findings. Saul Leiter is a man of many pictures and few words. Finding Saul Leiter gives me permission to to take more photographs and use fewer words.

We all see things in different ways, there is a place in photography for creative ambiguity. Ambiguity recognise that the viewer has an active mind. Ambiguity invites the viewer into the picture on his or her own terms. Ambiguity invites the viewer to exercise his or her own imagination. Ambiguity is a sociable form of creativity.

While we were in Capadoccia, we spent the morning driving around to find the "Love Valley". We stumbled on this scenery instead. I wasn't happy with the initial composition as there was too much negative space so this is a crop of the original.

Getting back to my 2x4 collection after quite a few months has reminded me how important it is to enjoy what you are collecting and finding a niche to specialize in. It is not possible to have everything but it is very possible to have a great collection within a small part of the broader hobby.

i didn't like it much..Finding Nemo is so much cuter...i had to drag my poor husband lol...the first 10 minutes was okay, then it dragged too long with not so funny scenes...well at least i get to see it.
