"A strong man and a waterfall always channel their own path" - Unknown

I hiked the 5.5 mile round trip to Abrams Falls this morning. Usually a walk in the smokies clears my head and recharges my batteries but not on this day. I couldn't even wash my troubles away with the cool mist from the falls. I did realize that i am on the right path and that the situation is only temporary.

I'm really excited to be editing these as part of a series of photo manipulations I am doing for class. First of all, the quality of work of the people who do this all the time is phenomenal and I completely respect them for pulling off convincing works of art for every picture. That being said this was a really fun composite based on the idea of balancing political affiliation...

I found it super difficult to find the stock images necessary for this work and then have the ability to cut them out and comp them into this final image... I do like how it turned out and I will be uploading a few more in the next few days.

Thanks for looking and as always comments are appreciated!

It wasn't all sunshine and snow during the Jixi visit in January 2010 and 5 January proved to be a very challenging one, both for traincrew and the photographer. In light but driving snowfall, 'SY' class 2-8-2 No.0950 struggles to get its trailing load of empties out of the steep spur from the landsale yard at Didao Hebei Washery, slipping violently for several minutes before eventually finding its feet.

The Cave Nebula (Caldwell 9) is a difficult object to observe visually. Before this observation/drawing I had only glimpsed the complex nebula using an 18-inch Dobsonian telescope under a dark sky using an 0III nebula filter and even then, I was not able to see the cave-shape that gives it its name.

Except for Caldwell 51, a dwarf galaxy in Cetus, the Cave Nebula is considered the most difficult visual object on the Caldwell List.

But technology has come to the rescue. Using a Light Enhancement device attached to the eyepiece along with a 6nm Hydrogen-Alpha filter, I was not only able to observe the Cave Nebula, but also see its cave-shape in the eyepiece using a 4.3-inch refractor from a local park near my house.

I could not resist :-)

It’s difficult in winter to escape the gray and find some color. I was so glad to see some color in the sky above Mount Timpanogos this past weekend when @pfunk_photography and I were out shooting at sunrise.
