After getting skunked repeatedly for eastbounds on the CP in the morning before work, I finally nabbed 182—thanks to a slow order west of Tower KR.

Bullock’s Oriole (male)

Malheur National Wildlife Refuge, OR

This bird has eluded me over the years. I’ve seen and been able to get photos of it in the past, but typically the shots were too far away and blurry. Finally, as I cruised Malheur Wildlife Refuge, this guy was patient enough to allow me to get a decent shot. Bullock’s Orioles feed on fruit, nectar, insects, and sometimes, they will eat small lizards. They use a feeding method called “gaping” that involves piercing the skin of fruit or insects with their beak closed, then pry it open inside the bug or fruit and use their tongue to lap up the moist juices inside. she cut open the pumpkin for us!!

I have not seen one in some time

I think adopting a puppy may have had something to do with the delay in getting this done when I had originally expected ;)

As seen in the previous photograph, this chair has needed a new seat cover for a long time. I thought I'd show the cute fabric print and give a shoot-out to Spoonflower.com. You choose a pattern and then they print it on the type of fabric you select. I think the sturdy cotton I picked gives it a feeling of vintage barkcloth.

After I filled the holes in the seat, I added "elbow patches" of linen over the areas the cats liked scratching the best--to slow down future damage--before the final fabric covering.

I am hoping to photograph more of this type of simplistic image whenever I can find them . They look great printed large on canvas and make for very Un cluttered easy on the eye pictures to hang on the wall .

Young Elegant Tern being fed. Moss Landing, Monterey County

Finally after a week of clouds and rain, the sun came out, even better for the first day of school vacation. The Mass Central's daily train PA-2 with both B&M style Bluebirds 1751-1750 fit right in with the spring theme passing Forrest Lake dam, just north of the village of Thorndike, MA. I don't remember when it rained this much, it's been that long. It cooled things down for a short time but the sun is back out and it's getting hot again.

Spring is definitively late this year...

I didn't wear a coat to work today for the first time in almost six months. While we are not quite done with the cold, the freezing and the snow of winter has finally started to fade in our memories. Finally!

And a huge thank you and shout of appreciation to you. The support that I receive is so generous and amazing. I passed two million views this morning. It took me 35 months to reach one million. It took me 3 months to reach another. You have everything to do with that and I thank you.

Marvelous Monday to you my friend.

Finally! An elusive bird for me. And got both on the same perch. A perfect day.

Finally it's winter again! After heavy snowfall the last 24 hours the winter is back here at Upper Franconia! This pano shows a pond north of Bad Steben. The snow was falling heavily, but I liked this scene with the wonderful trees, the pond, the ice and the reflections of the trees.

This pano was stitched from 7 single shots.

Thanks for visiting!

It took until November for our area to burst with the normal colors of October, but here they are at long last.

Finally a clear night after more than 5 weeks and fortunately was able to capture the Comet and part of the tail. It is now visible in our New Zealand skies since about the 20th of Dec but with so much poor weather visible to us in the far north on the 24th of Dec.

As the comet is very bright having significanly increased its core luminosity a few days ago, it is barely visible to the naked eye and in binoculars shows up clearly.

After tramping for two days on Mount Taranaki, the cloud finally cleared for this reveal just before sunset. Taken from Holly Hut on the Pouakai Crossing. I am intrigued by that very large slab-like structure near the top on the right - it looks like it may collapse at any time! Be great if anyone knows what this feature is called? (Update: I think it's called the Turtle)

"Egmont National Park is a mountainous area that encompasses three volcanic cones. The main peak of Mount Taranaki (2,518 m) forms the nucleus of the park. It is the most recent and only active volcanic peak in the park, although it is now considered dormant. Because it is considered one of the most symmetrical mountains in the world, it is a very distinctive landmark. The other two volcanic cones, which are now extinct, form the basis of the Pouakai and Kaitake Ranges in the north-western part of the park." www.doc.govt.nz/parks-and-recreation/places-to-go/taranak...

Olives and Garlic Bread

Taking the time to finally relax and not think about the everyday stress. Finally i can breathe.

And there she is...... The Black Tulip !!!!!!!!!!!

After grabbing some empty potash hoppers, train 406 returns back to Island Yard in Saint John, NB, where it will finish piecing its train together for the return trip to Moncton. Finally the sun decided to come out, although on the wrong side, still better than nothing. April 18, 2021.

finally a new wide angle lens (sigma 10-20) ... :)

Had not been getting anything on our two small potted Lantana, no bees, butterflies, hummingbirds. Zippo, zilch, nada! :) Then I looked out to see this tiny skipper on one, finally! Only about 3/4 inch in length. Had to grab a photo. Hopefully others will follow. Normally get some of each of the above every year but not this year for some reason.

Well....... I finally got round to editing and posting an image from nearly a week ago last Thursday during, what has to be said, a cracking morning on Todd Crag with Tony Higginson and Danny Astro Kenealy. More to edit so there is more to come.

As always, all my images are available to purchase through my website so why not pop along there and take a look.

I've been dreaming about this daylily since before it was created. When I was buying daylilies 8 years ago, I searched for a white one with yellow ruffles. There was no such thing. Now there is and here is its first blossom.

It's called Wedding Band.

Finally got my first Tiger built. :) Of course we went all tan with it. Special thanks to KingTiger, Papo, Jeff, L4L, and Alex for all of the help or inspiration. I know she is a bit plain, but that is the way we wanted it. I have never used the 3 wide tracks before, rolls surprisingly well. The inner wheels are back a tad farther to ride in the track's center section. Still don't know if I want to trim the cross axles or not. Plus I may change the road wheels to the plain gears to lower it a tad more. I used my normal brick built cross on the hull, but for the flag on the back I used one of Jeff's stickers. Hope ya'll like her. :)

And finally Winter, with its bitin', whinin' wind, and all the land will be mantled with snow.
