Finally...!! Spring is here as soon as I see the first crocus popping up. Over the next few days yards will be full of them. Time to put the snowblower away....
We finally have some clouds in LA!!!! Its been wonderful! The other night I knew that there was going to be an epic sunset but the only place I could get to fast enough after work was Griffith park. Just as I arrived the sky started to go off the charts and I managed to grab some awesome shots. I can wait to post them over the next few days!
I've had this dream about having an octagonal greenhouse for more than ten years, and finally this summer hubby& my brother started to build it. Still few windows, doors and all the inside work missing, but it already looks just like I designed it. Can't wait next spring when I can finally have a greenhouse of my own and start to plant there!
I took this puzzle from the cover of a magazine and transposed it to a separate sheet of paper. Many of the original numbers were obscured by graphics on the magazine cover. I had to reimagine them to the best of my ability and then I was finally able to solve it. I get the strangest delight in knowing that I was able to squeeze one more puzzle out of that magazine. This was a kind of strange 2 am celebration.
'Adventures of Robert Nothing'
Also, my first comicbook 'White Cube' is now officially out.

I finally found out who everyone in the picture is after talking to one of my cousin's who is likes to keep up with family genealogy. The second girl from the right is my grandmother Louise Henschke and the adult women are my great and great great grandmothers. With my grandmother looking around ten that would place this photo's date at around 1894 give or take. www.youtube.com/watch?v=2XiaLzIYDng&ab_channel=BruceS...
"American land" by Bruce Springsteen.
What is this land America so many travel there
I'm going now while I'm still young my darling meet me there
Wish me luck my lovely I'll send for you when I can
And we'll make our home in the American land
Over there all the woman wear silk and satin to their knees
And children dear, the sweets, I hear, are growing on the trees
Gold comes rushing out the rivers straight into your hands
When you make your home in the American Land
There's diamonds in the sidewalk the's gutters lined in song
Dear I hear that beer flows through the faucets all night long
There's treasure for the taking, for any hard working man
Who will make his home in the American Land
I docked at Ellis Island in a city of light and spires
She met me in the valley of red-hot steel and fire
We made the steel that built the cities with our sweat and two hands
And we made our home in the American Land
There's diamonds in the sidewalk the's gutters lined in song
Dear I hear that beer flows through the faucets all night long
There's treasure for the taking, for any hard working man
Who will make his home in the American Land
The McNicholas, the Posalskis, the Smiths, Zerillis, too
The Blacks, the Irish, Italians, the Germans and the Jews
Come across the water a thousand miles from home
With nothing in their bellies but the fire down below
They died building the railroads worked to bones and skin
They died in the fields and factories names scattered in the wind
They died to get here a hundred years ago they're still dying now
The hands that built the country we're always trying to keep down
There's diamonds in the sidewalk the's gutters lined in song
Dear I hear that beer flows through the faucets all night long
There's treasure for the taking, for any hard working man
Who will make his home in the American Land
Finally one Zebra perched long enough for a shot.
In the spring butterflies are busy flying as they (males) defend their territory and look for mates.
They also spend time puddling to get their minerals, but this spring has been quite dry (with parts of the state in an official drought according to the Drought Monitor). With mostly dry ground and fewer moist spots the opportunity to puddle is limited making it (also) harder for the photographer to get the shot.
It's like a roster shot but from farther away....
Union Pacific 6617 holds back the rear end of the Fresno as the train clears up the north switch at Canyon. And yes I know that taking pictures of the DPU is slowly becoming sacrilege but if you miss the head end and if facing out the it becomes more of a "When in Rome" situation.
This entire fifteen minute debacle has a companion video including the whole missing of the MFRWC front half: youtu.be/cQWB9KNN_6o
Meant to have this done a long time ago--but that pesky thing called 'real life' kept interfering.
Nevertheless, I am pleased with how it turned out. :-)

I feel it in my skin, warming up my mind."

Finally placed yellow light bulbs, as a French classic should have. It looks much warmer like this, fits the red-ish paint very good too. You probably won't see anything in the dark, but that's irrelevant.

Hibiscus in Kissimmee, Florida
Straight from camera, no editing
haytor rocks and blowing a gail, just made it off when it poured down.
Tembo finally made it into a shot not for trying, this i didn't mind but the amount of shots i get with a tail or dog part is unbelievable.

Finally a clear enough sky came through for me to wander down to the pond and snap away at the comet. Whilst down there we ran into Bob, a retired Astronomer who had worked with McNaught.
The light in the foreground is from someone who had an incredibly strong porch light shining out into the paddock near the pond. Highly annoying! This was a long exposure so there is some noise from the high ISO.
So much to do, I'll post some more later. Might even have a crack at HDR with some bracketed exposures I took :)
Finally got to use brick separators in a build! :D
Built for the LSB 10th anniversary. Missed the boat on racing bikes a couple of years back so with the anything goes category this time around I figured it was my chance!

Chris.

(print scan) Taken on static display at the 1984 Mildenhall Air Fete, Keflavik-based Douglas C-118A Liftmaster 131578 from the US Navy. This went on to have a life after military service, finally being scrapped around 2008.
