In all of our preparations we endeavor to use the finest organic produce and seafood from sustainable, eco-friendly sources. And with our extensive wine list featuring over 900 carefully selected fine wines, Oceanique has won Wine Spectator Magazine's coveted "Best of Award of Excellence" every year since 1994 being recognized as having one of the 750 best wine lists in the world.

 

Chef de cuisine and owner Mark Grosz worked under the tutelage of renowned chef Jean Banchet of the world famous Le Francais in Wheeling, Illinois. He further refined his skills in France and Hong Kong, and has served as head chef and culinary impresario at a variety of restaurants and private clubs in Illinois and Michigan until 1989 when he opened the doors at Oceanique. Mark continues to offer discriminating diners some of the most creative and exquisite dishes prepared in the French tradition, with an American twist.

More like filet-o-shrimp in this case, featuring a patty made with a slice of battered and fried shrimp terrine paired with tartar sauce, thin slice of aged cheddar cheese, all sandwiched between two halves of a bun from OMG Baked Goodness. We were all told not to ask where the boxes came from…

 

At this point of the evening Page asked if we had heard of Hamburger University, something he remembered from his youth. When asked if he had attended, Page jokingly confessed he had only audited some courses, but a brief fling with one of the instructors who subsequently lost tenure, left a bad taste in his mouth. The situation inspired the song “Another Postcard (with Chimpanzees).” “He couldn't let go,” Page quipped.*

 

*This was all made up, of course!

or rounded corners technically but the software calls them all filets.

So the actual corners are half the radius of the program. something to remember if it has to fit inside a bend.

La plage ,si éclaboussée de soleil que les couleurs se confondent, la mer devant toi avec les enfants qui hurlent et s'éclaboussent... Là-bas ta soeur, dans son maillot une-pièce bleu foncé et un bandeau blanc dans les cheveux, ses boules tac-tac-tac oranges à la main, court pour rejoindre une éphémère amie de plage... "Les enfants, pas de bain avant deux heures après avoir mangé !"crie ta mère assise sous le parasol, entre la glacière et le bateau gonflable Agip...Ton père, la pipe à la bouche, essaye desepèrement de lire en se faisant enterrer dans le sable par ton frères et ses copains... Et ton autre frère, le plus grand, qui fume une cigarette caché derrière le gros ventre du monsieur avec un maillot jaune... Et Adriano Celentano qui chante dans le transistor un peu plus loin...

My 2nd filet crochet. The first one was a name-in-a-box. This one is a Box -in-a-box. For those who like trivia, there are close to 4000 'squares' in this design, each square made up of 2 to 3 individual stiches, so 8000 to 12000 stitches. Used a size 11 needle and #30 DMC thread. More to come!!

we had steak for lunch yesterday - a first. they accidentally rang up as a $3.50 pork chop at the register. score!
