Gig poster for the Foo Fighters concert - Paris - France - Niark1.

Niark was a huge inspiration to some of my earlier drawings, back when I was to scared to even pick up a mouse to create art. With his fantastic colures and contrast paired with bold lines and a brilliant sense of progression, he weaves some of the best illustration I've seen in my life. They really are in a world of their own and I am always impressed when he brings out a new piece.

When rumors circulated that the Terran Union was in the market for a new medium space superiority fighter, Turner Industries leapt into action, completing, with their own funds, a fully working prototype before bidding even began.Needless to say, Turner Industries won the contract handily, as they had already footed the design costs, thereby allowing them to undercut their competitors.

The Perseus is a medium space superiority fighter of middling speed and maneuverability-a strange design decision, to say the least. To compensate for its relatively low speed (for its role), Turner Industries outfitted it with nearly unparalleled firepower and protection for a fighter of its size-it features two heavy hardpoints (usually only found on bombers) that normally mount 30 mm gatling cannons. In addition, this is the first space-faring vessel lighter than a corvette to feature a shield system.

The Perseus is generally quite successful in dogfighting situations, and can be made to be successful in anti-frigate maneuvers by mounting heavier cannons or ship-to-ship torpedoes in place of the gatling cannons.

How I spent most of my Saturday. I wanted to build a minifig-scale air/space fighter that was as small as possible while still looking "fly-able". The wings fold over the top for an even smaller profile. Gonna finish the cockpit and play around with different colors as soon as a couple Bricklink orders come in. Hopefully, I'll be using several of these little guys in a larger upcoming project. Hint: carrier.

History of the F-104A "Starfighter"

Designed as a supersonic air-superiority fighter, Lockheed produced two versions of the F-104. One version was armed with a six-barrel cannon and served as a tactical fighter; the other was equipped with missiles and served as a day-night Interceptor. The F-104 was first manufactured in 1952 and used during the the Berlin Crisis of 1961 and the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971. The F-104 was the first aircraft to maintain level Mach 2 flight during combat.

The F-104A "Starfighter" at Hill Air Force Base

The F-104A on display was manufactured in 1957, and after serving at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida, the aircraft had a flying accident and was removed from the U.S. Air Force inventory. The Hill Aerospace Museum acquired this aircraft for display in 2007 from Camp Joseph T. Robinson, North Little Rock, Arkansas. Interesting Fact The Starfighter became the first aircraft to hold simultaneous records for speed, time-to-climb, and altitude.

Fighter Air Craft MIG Grounded at Ahmedabad Airport during Air Show.

"The Malayan Jaffna Tamil community was intensely loyal to the British Crown and when World War I started Ganapathypillai was amongst those who contributed liberally to the British War Fund. A Committee was also elected to start collecting funds to pay for the cost of a British Fighter Plane. Dr E T McIntyre was elected Chairman and Ganapathypillai was prominent amongst the fund-raisers in Taiping.

When the Committee informed the British Government of their intentions, the Government replied that they were aware of the Malayan Jaffna Tamil community’s limited resources and tactfully suggested that they may wish to consider the cheaper alternative of funding the cost of an observation plane. The Committee indignantly replied that they would somehow or the other raise the cost of a fighter plane so as to maximize the damage that could be inflicted on the Germans!

Within a few months the cost of a fighter plane (2250 Pounds) was collected and remitted to the British Government in London with the request that the plane be named “Jaffna”. Bonar Law, the Secretary of State for the Colonies, wrote back to the Jaffna Tamils thanking them for their patriotic spirit in raising the cost of a fighter plane out of their comparatively small resources.

A few months after "The Jaffna" entered war service, a Squadron of FE2Bs of the same type of plane as The Jaffna, flying for No. 25 Squadron of the Royal Flying Corps (the forerunner of the RAF) encountered the Fokker Eindekker piloted by the German Ace, Max Immelmann who had already downed at least 17 British planes. Max's plane was shot down in the encounter and he lost his life. The Jaffna may well have been in this squadron.”
