In spring ferns unroll themselves and spread their leaves. The nickname for the unrolled fern is Fiddle head as it resembles the musical instrument.

The Fall Festival is always the first weekend of November.

The violin sings, but the fiddle dances.

I have learned that there lies dormant in the souls of all men a penchant for some particular musical instrument, and an unsuspected yearning to learn to play on it, that are bound to wake up and demand attention some day. Therefore, you who rail at such as disturb your slumbers with unsuccessful and demoralizing attempts to subjugate a fiddle, beware! for sooner or later your own time will come. - "A Touching Story of George Washington's Boyhood" - Mark Twain

May 2012 and the main Fiddle Yard is fully lais and wired up for DCC. The Hornby 31 is receiving attention on the rolling road. It was a shocking runner, mainly because the fan assembly was overloading the DCC chip (I think).

Lies had a wonderful session with the Kennedy Girls that I could not decide which one to post. Hence posting most of them.

Enjoy.

Note:

The Kennedy Girls are Mouse's first litter. Their mom is Lotje - sister to Tinkerbell and daughter to Luna. They are named after Kennedy "Staff Members" because they were born on the day their Gotfather Kennedy - our ginger neuter - died. We hope that they will be able to keep his memory alive.

A nice touch is that they all have a red streak in their fur as if a hint of Kennedy has been passed on to them.

You know when you run out of time in the day because of your lack of planning ahead, laziness, getting distracted and also, of course, loads of work...

you end up staying on your computer til 6:19am doing something you could've done at a better time of hour... but oh well.

For a long time I had this tree inside the house. When I decided the tree needed more sun and fresh air I took it to the back yard and it started recuperating. Left it in the back yard in the planter for about two years and now I decided to put it in the ground. Found a spot in front of Monroe Avenue and looks a lot happier.

The display board's on the left, control board on the right. In the middle, over 50 little wires connecting them together

Harry Bear, playing a stump fiddle. This was quite entertaining, especially when he started jumping up and down with this thing to the beat of Polish Polka music.
