Bournemouth is close to the New Forest where the rustic approach to life can still exist. The Cat and Fiddle is a country pub with a traditional thatched roof.
Took my mother and daughter to a new years eve concert by the Wrigley Sisters braving the ice and snow 17 miles into the cathedral at Kirkwall, very good. Including the hardanger fiddle -a norwegian variation that has extra strings to resonate plus extra carving painting and inlay; very impressive instrument. For such a large building the cathedral was warm welcoming and beatifully lit.
