My decision to feature the South Pond as the first image for this project was influenced by the significant the pond has undergone. This past autumn was exceptionally warm and very dry. By, only a small area retained a minimal amount of water. Christmas brought over eight inches of fresh snow followed by 50-degree temperatures and more than an inch of rain. Two days after Christmas, the stream opened up and fed pond. Within two days, the pond filled with over six feet of water. By January 3rd, we experienced extremely cold temperatures, freezing the pond solid.
Life revolves around the ebb and flow of our ponds affecting all flora and fauna. We are thrilled by the prospect of a full pond, as it serves as a refuge for all wildlife now and for the incoming migratory birds this spring. now, we celebrate the frozen water and look forward to seeing the first signs of tadpoles.
I managed to get off a shot just as the water started spouting from the water feature, which gave the photo some added interest.

And so I have a little news tonight. This week I had some of my pictures featured in the latest issue of Snap Magazine, a magazine hipstamatic produces to show off the app.
The mag is free on ipads and iphones and you can view it online also at the below link, which goes straight to my bit. ;-)
Thanks to all of you for your encouragement, support and fantastic comments over the last year and a bit, it means a lot. The words are pretty much the same as the feature I had on a website recently, and the pics come from that group. Snap contacted me after seeing said feature and I was alas a little too busy to do up something fresh, but hey.
As suspected I've not had any Francesca time since the last time I managed to get out. I've not been around here much either due to some personal stuff going on. Anyway here's a double feature of me in this outfit again, showing a bit more leg than last time. xx

Everytime i go to a cathedral for some snapshots, there are simply that few angles which we can capture... pretty much left, right or center. Of course i still think center has the best perspective which most of us have done pretty much :) In this shot, i really wish to focus on the lightings on the right side of the church. The sun was shining really brightly into the interior through all the glass panel at that time of the shot. The atmosphere was really quiet yet awesome & grand... as if a miracle was about to happen there. oh perhaps the miracle was me :P LOL! i'm just full of crap i reckon haha! Have a great day ahead!

The interior of St Franics Xavier
The diocese was established during a depression. The exodus to the goldfields in Victoria circa 1851 added to the financial woes of the bishop. The Cathedral was designed to be constructed in three stages so that the Diocesan finances would not be unduly stretched. 140 years after the Cathedral's foundation stone was laid, the cathedral was completed. It then became possible to dedicate the Cathedral. This was done on 11 July 1996. July 11 was chosen as this had been the date of the 1858 opening.

Standard 3 exposures shots (-2..0..+2EV) with tripod using the Canon EF-S 18-55mm lens and a polarized light filter
Photoshop
- Added a layer effect of 'curves' to slightly increase the contrast
- Added a layer effect of 'saturation' to further decrease the yellows & reds of the lightings and the wall
- Applied a bit of dodging on the benches
- Used 'unsharp mask' ( as always ) on the background layer
