I truly wish it didn't have to be this way...

FlickrFriday challenge: What’s for dinner

Camera: Pentax ME Super

Lens: SMC Pentax-M 50mm f/2

Últimamente me he sentido muy atraído por las largas exposiciones.

(A little bit edited because overexposure.)

Belted kingfisher; Oso Flaco Lake, Guadalupe, CA

50049 and 50007 zip along the Up Derby Fast towards Washwood Heath East Junction running as 0Z50 Duddeston Junction to Leicester L.I.P. The pair had headed 5Z50 and were due to drop off the train at Hams Hall but much to the surprise of the gallery at Whitacre the train continued towards Birmingham so myself and young Rob made haste to Bromford Bridge and captured both 5Z50 and 0Z50, nice.

An adult Bald Eagle in a predatory dive.

Every now and then, you get a pleasant surprise when photographing wildlife.

This eagle left it's tree perch behind me and dived for a fish just a few yards in front of me. I caught the eagle in the corner of my eye leaving the branch. I swung my camera up and fired away, getting a photo of the underside of a diving eagle.

The end of the Pier was disap'pier'ing fast as the fog came in rapidly yesterday on the seafront. Time to grab so fresh fish and chips!

SONY 135mm 1.8 GM

This fast moving Thunder Cloud caught up the sun much faster than I thought, so I could not reach to the spot that I wanted, I had to stop and find the best possible place. For Landscape Photography the Sony 135mm 1.8 GM is very sharp, with excellent contrast and colors.

Killin is a small village at the Falls of Dochart, a spectacular series of rapids, at the western end of Loch Tay.

The village makes an excellent base for walks in the surrounding mountains of Breadalbane while Loch Tay is a popular destination for both its salmon fishing and watersports. Killin sits at the edge of the Ben Lawers National Nature Reserve and the Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park, ideal for enjoying a lovely mix of wildlife spotting, outdoor activities and walking.

The Tour Down Under is about to start again in Adelaide and surrounding areas from tomorrow. It attracts some of the world's elite cyclists to South Australia in January - our summer and has been run here for 20+ years..

This shot from one of last year's stages.

This photo has just been selected for an exhibition at PH21 Gallery in Budapest / Hungary. My first photo ever to be exhibited - I am quite excited! The exhibition will be from Feb. 18 til Mar. 15. Details at www.ph21gallery.com/#!moments/npyy2.

If you should be in the neighborhood, please have a look!

(Almost) Superlatives

The Marxloh Mosque, one of the largest in Germany (de.wikipedia.org/wiki/DITIB-Merkez-Moschee), behind it Schwelgern, one of the largest smelting works in Germany, at least the one with the tallest chimneys... de.wikipedia.org/wiki/ThyssenKrupp-Stahlwerk_Schwelgern

In the foreground, the slip road to the A 59 motorway, into another, unimportant town, almost into another world...

The fresh paint is barely dry on the brand new scheme for the Reading and Northern's fast freight units. 5019 seen sitting here on the turntable at the steam shop north of the yard is a rebuilt SD50-2 acquired from CSXT that was blt. Mar. 1984 as Seaboard System 8550.

She wears a scheme that is more closely reminiscent of that found on the new ex NS executive F units. Sister 5018 was painted in a red and white iteration that was not favored for whatever reason and will presumably be modified into this scheme if it is universally adopted. I did get a shot of that unit earlier in the year as seen in this image:

I honestly wasn't sure I was going to like this as much as the red version or the classic green and yellow, but I dare say in person this is one good looking machine!

Die Vorbereitungen der Weiterbildung EKG sind fast abgeschlossen. The preparations for continuing ECG are almost complete.

It's another zoom-blur bike racing shot taken recently in West Dundee, Illinois, this time featuring women racers. The effect was created by zooming the lens during the exposure.
