"Seid ihr am Nordpol?" So reagierte meine Enkeltochter, als sie die "Schneebilder" aus Norwegen sah. Dieses Jahr war im Juni in den höheren Gebieten noch eine Menge Schnee vorhanden.
Dieses Bild verknüpfe auch ich mit abbrechenden Gletscherkanten im Nordpolarmeer.

Fun and games at Green Lane, The Wirral as a Merseyrail class 508 EMU enters the station from the underground section.
I was drawn to the repetitive arrowhead of the footbridge and approaching EMU. A change of pace, and probably limited appeal, but I figured it was worth waiting for a couple of trains to get what I was after.

Depoe Bay is a city on the Pacific Ocean Oregon Coast. It has a harbor that the city promotes as the world's smallest navigable harbor. The entry to the harbor is a 30 foot wide passage with a concrete wall at the opening and rock wall for the rest. We rented a place with a great view of the boats going in and out, a variety from kayaks on up to 40 ft tour boats for fishing and/or whale watching. We noticed that most power boats came in at high speed and then slowed some as they came to some bends in the passage. The sea was quite calm so the whales' puffs, backs and tails were easily seen from our place.

Am 13.05.2018 war 218 321 für die Fehmarn-IC`s eingeplant hier rollt sie pünktlich durch den Bahnhof gen Süden

Dit keer werd er eens gekozen voor het maken van een "Panning shot" in Zichem.
De bedoeling hierbij is om een bewegend onderwerp scherp op de foto te zetten en de achtergrond juist niet scherp te hebben. Dankzij dit effect wordt de snelheid zichtbaar op de foto.
Als figurant werd gekozen voor de losse 6285 van Infrabel die hier onderweg was van Lier naar Hasselt.

The sun was in the perfect position to rise between the mountains for sunrise, but that was just one element. I had taken a few photos of the tree the evening before and the water was perfectly still, lovely reelections with a few clouds in the sky. Fast forward 12 hours and it was windy with hardly any clouds in the sky. Luckily i'd set up an hour before sunrise and managed to get a bit of the early morning colour.
America Black Bear of North Carolina
There are three species of bears in North America—the Polar Bear, Brown Bear (Grizzly), and Black Bear. The Black Bear is the only species found in North Carolina or anywhere in the eastern United States and is an important part of our cultural, historical and natural heritage.
In North Carolina, the Black Bear is usually black with a brown muzzle and sometimes a white patch on its chest. Bears have five toes on each foot, with sharp curved claws that help them climb trees and feed on insects and grubs in decaying logs. Black Bears rely mostly on their sense of smell and hearing due to their average (similar to humans’) eyesight, but are adept at climbing, running, swimming and digging. They can run as fast as 35 miles per hour!
Before Europeans came to the New World, Black Bears lived in all forested regions of North America and were abundant in North Carolina. However, Black Bears were often killed by early settlers to protect their families, crops and livestock. In time, bears across the state were also impacted by habitat loss from agricultural development and clear-cutting. By the mid-1900s, bears were only found in the most remote mountains and coastal swamps of our state. Then in the 1920s, the American chestnut blight (a tree-killing fungus) hit the Mountain Region, destroying the most important nut-producing tree for bears. As a result, bear populations suffered.
However, thanks to science-based management and bear sanctuaries, Black Bears have made a remarkable recovery in population and range. Black Bear expansion has occurred naturally as bears have moved into suitable habitats. As of 2012, there were approximately 17,000 bears in the state, occupying 61% of the state’s total land area.

I had not stopped in the Rhyolite Ghost Town since my dad and I were there in 2020. On that visit we had great clouds, and I focused on Long Exposures. On this visit...not a cloud in sight. At first I was not very interested, it just happened to be on our way to Beatty. But when we got to the end, I discovered that my favorite little shack had fallen down, or most likely pushed over. And that made me sad. Areas of Rhyolite were falling down, either by the effects of time or the outside influence of people, there was a lot of graffiti, and in general the Ghost town is Fading Fast...so when we were leaving the light was good, I told TJ lets stop and get out to see what we can find. This is just one of my images from our short time there. I ran back to the truck to get the CV12mm, because it is the sunstar master...sadly I don't think this old market building is going to be standing for long...a good wind, or a push from a knucklehead and it will be a pile of old lumber. I will never understand why people feel the need to graffiti things, or tear up old stuff...glad I got an image of this one before it succumbs.
