Falling Spring Falls, located north of Covington in Alleghany County, Virginia, features an 80-foot drop in a beautiful setting. Visible from U.S. Route 220, the waterfall was visited by Thomas Jefferson, who surveyed the area. I stopped by the falls yesterday while on a drive through western Virginia. Information from a sign at the site.

The thing about cyclists is that we LOVE to take photos of our bikes! I rode my gravel bike around the valley floor of Yosemite on Halloween this year. Truly enchanting with gorgeous weather and some spectacular fall color.

New snow and falling leaves. The spot in the clouds is a large hawk that was soaring down the ridge. Inching closer to winter, 29 degrees, scraping ice this AM.

I had just about given up looking for an interesting foreground to get one good image of the autum colors when a group of ducks just flew in... so tried to guide them away from the sun and towards an area where the trees were colorful and somehow was successful in getting a couple of ducks to go where I wanted them to... :-)!!
