Vermont Railway 307 leads the AAPRCO special through the mountains on a beautiful fall afternoon, I had to give the trout a break for an hour to grab a shot of this train!

The trees were so striking I stopped for a shot. I heard the dog barking but actually didn't see him until I processes the picture! Off HWY 36, Indiana.

Back to the archives for this one. The fall colors last year were so beautiful.

Happy Saturday, everyone!

HAPPY FALL 2017!!! It's the first day of fall and the color changes are coming. This image is a compilation of a couple of shots last fall. Not that colorful here yet.

In fact it is in the 90's again today! Yikes. With the lack of rainfall I fear our autumn may not be at it's best but I still can't wait for those fall colors!

The couple stopped and posed to take a selfie in the midst of the vibrant fall foliage. I grabbed the opportunity. Shot taken at Confederation Park, Calgary on a Sunday evening. People came out to enjoy the warm fall even in the midst of COVID pandemic.

Would I be faced with the choice to choose a season forever. I would take autumn.

Another look back to a spectacular day in the Utah high country. Here is the caption I wrote at the time:

OK, let's head back to the Utah high country and the chase of empty coal train CTRSK on my favorite branch line, Union Pacific's ex DRGW Pleasant Valley Sub. Amazingly, the crossing at Chestnut street yielded a third set of different images with only moving a few steps.

You already saw them marching up grade in the northward view and then a shot of the head end passing the historic old general store.

Now here are four going away images of the rear DPUs looking south up UP Canyon as they roll alongside Mud Creek and really start to dig in to the nearly 2.4% grade.

Between the bare trees, dusting of snow on the higher peaks, and golden colors you could be forgiven for thinking this is late fall and not early spring.

A pleasant harmony of warm, earthy hues, backlit, saturated tones, and leaves with veins, form a symphony in the quiet stillness of the forest.

Colors are starting to pop. Looks like a good year for fall colors. Took this around 6:45am. No harsh light yet.

Fall Passes Away 🍁🍂

~

Viewing cloud streaked skies,

Through yellowing, wind bent grass stalks,

Fall passes away;

Earth awaits the cold winter,

When landscapes are frozen white...

The perfect antidote to urban living: an extended country drive. Ideally, travelling on roads that are designated "No Winter Maintenance". Which means no summer maintenance either

comments and constructive criticism always welcome.

I always love shooting reflections like this one above Desoto Falls.

The sun was setting over the Adirondacks in the Lake Placid Region. It cast some beautiful light over the colorful trees.
