Fall comes early in the high country. By late October, most of the aspens are bare. But color remains, waiting for the first snows.

There isn't a lot of color left from this rather lackluster season, but the occasional bush or tree still has some sparkle. This is a section of my Crepe Myrtle bush. I still prefer Autumn to any other season! :)

Fall here is southeastern Pennsylvania was beautiful--golden. We had the pleasure of watching autumn unfold day by day on our early morning walks. This was a quick iPhone shot processed with Snapseed and Distressed FX+.
Fall, leaves, fall; die, flowers, away;
Lengthen night and shorten day;
Every leaf speaks bliss to me
Fluttering from the autumn tree.
I shall smile when wreaths of snow
Blossom where the rose should grow;
I shall sing when night’s decay
Ushers in a drearier day.
