Goodbye to North West Scotland for a while and back to South Wales today to greet Storm Freya. It's been the calmest quietest week I've ever known in Scotland, perfect for my reflective journey. Fallen Peaches is by The Handsome Family . Just travelling from the Lakes to Bridgend via Taunton, then back to the coast to see what skies and seas are waiting.
p.s. I managed to recover my lost photos of Suilven from my camera's memory card thanks to help from my brother . All's well that ends well . Celebrated with too much wine and winning at Cranium with my neice Sasha.
enjoyed a good sit in my side yard for about an hour the other day. Fall has the best light in my yard.
I couldn't resist a last trip to Kynance to watch another sunset all to myself. Even though the colours didn't explode in the sky, I loved the reflected sky and the colour of the sea. Peach was the order of the night, so Fallen Peaches by the handsome Family is perfect. We're off home today, it's been a magnificent week, too much sun :).We've got a gig in Cardiff tonight, Alabama 3 , so should be fun.
A tree succumbs to the harsh Scottish Highland conditions ... Cycling up from the Linn of Dee to start our climb up Ben Macdui and Carn a' Mhaim we saw this fallen tree, a drink of water and a quick rest before continuing on.
Ben Macdui is the UK's 2nd highest peak (second only to Ben Nevis) and stands at 1309m (4294ft). After descending from this Munro we make a climb to the 2nd Munro of the day, Carn a' Mhaim (pronounced Carn-ah-Vame) at 1037m (3402ft).

You know the feeling in a car on the highway - you can see a natural spectacle, want to take a photograph but can't stop anywhere (German law on highways).
On my way home I saw these light and shadows. Luckily near an exit just after a small bridge ... Down from the highway, desperately wanted the dirt road that leads to this agricultural bridge and parking my car. Think about what lens would be good, and then ...
... I was even rewarded with the silhouette of a landing parachutist.
Sometimes you get lucky at right time at the right place ...
Awaiting its turn on the single main beyond Cable, the ILBOAX holds at the Cable X-over as it meets the first of two eastbounds before the dispatcher will again have it headed west.
At the time this was just a chance meet between KCS 'belle' 4767 and SPatch 6216 (SP 303), now KCS has joined the Espee as a fallen flag.

I had a trip to North Yorkshire today as it was forecast wide spread frost and snow, it wasn’t, it didn’t. As I drove into my street returning it snowed, I had to laugh, honest. Here’s a photo from a better day in Northumberland last week. I’ve been looking at this fallen birch for nearly two year but you needed the right conditions to make an image work, last Wednesday I got those conditions. My outdoor jaunts are becoming less and less as I get older, its the driving I don’t like. When I do go out I like the adventure of going somewhere different, new, going to the same place over and over again was something I would have done in the passed. However to get a reasonable portfolio of woodland work you really need to do your work in scouting the place so when the conditions do align with your visit you know how to spend your precious time.
Thank you so much for visiting my stream !!
Have a fabulous day, my friends ;-))

Last time I used this lens, I suspected there was fungus in it. Checked it and yes, quite a lot. That said, although it gives flat images, they are recoverable.
I've not got much choice atm anyway, as this is the only full-frame ultra-wide I've got.
