Fallen, sunken, lost,

Forgotten places that haunt --

Light and shadow meet.

Getting back to some simple abstract macro studies. Sometimes we come across images in nature that are not well defined but conjure a strong impression and mood. I can't help but feel I have visited an ancient place, with fallen statues, the feeling of weathered stone and the desolate. What does this evoke within you? Happy Monochrome Bokeh Thursday!

One of four trees in a small park that have fallen and/or snapped during the storm. I had walked past that tree in the morning. It was a genuine shock to see it lying there ... like someone I knew!

An old fallen log in Olympic National Forest near Matheny Creek in Washington state.

Fallen leaves layered on the ground. The large, grayish leaves are those of Magnolia obovata (Japanese bigleaf magnolia, ‘Hō-noki’ in Japanese). They are sometimes used as plates or wrappers in Japanese traditional cuisine.

A single poppy petal rescued from the roadside.

I can't believe it, you're a dream comin' true.

I can't believe how I have fallen for you.

And I was not looking, was content to remain.

And it's ironic to be back in the game.

You are the one who's led me to the sun.

How could I know that I was lost without you

And I want to tell you, you control my rain

And you should know that you are life in my veins.

You are the one who's led me to the sun.

How could I know that I was lost without you

I can't believe it, you're a dream comin' true.

I can't believe how I have fallen for you.

And I was not looking, was content to remain.

And it's erotic to be back in the game.

Pileated Woodpecker feeding on a fallen tree, searching for bugs and grubs.

Fallen, rotting leaves of Magnolia obovata (Japanese bigleaf magnolia, ‘Hō-noki’ in Japanese) and others. Taken by the trailside.

The 1836 grave of Henry Dorsey lies behind a tree warn by time and weather. Fallen, but not lost after nearly two hundred years.

This fuchsia has such pretty flowers :)

You've been a fallen angel

Ripped out of the sky

But as your wings grew strong enough

You left me behind to die.

Still attached to its stalk, most probably a victim of strong winds.

One of the only days we got any sun, on our recent visit to Northumberland. This shot was taken from a slightly different position, not so close to the water's edge and incoming tide. I like the way the water's edge is almost total white. Like those cotton wool clouds have fallen from the sky!
