On Sunday June 9th 2019, Waitrose closed the doors of its branch in Teignmouth for the last time after just 5 years of trading here. According to the area manager it was no longer sustainable.
Stacks of newspapers from Saturday, languish outside waited to be collected.
Yep - I've been busy - too busy for volunteer stuff. BUT - I did keep up my 365. Even on July 31, I took a foot shot with old sheets. Yes, my creativity hasn't been in the picture for a long time. Even though many of my shots were just a "hold up the camera backwards" type, I still tried to put in a bit of my story in the background. This "fail" shot was a reject for another day so I was trying (a little).
I'm not a quitter so this does upset me. I think I missed because I got behind in posting. If you do it each day...you won't forget.
One of my many failed attempts at a snow spiral.
I've been making snow spirals every winter since 2010. I make them during the day, with the intention of using them as a template for light painting at night.
One of the main problems I've had is that they're hard to photograph from the ground, so I've been searching for a good cliff, hill, or elevated area to shoot from, but the place I live is pretty flat. There's a lot of sand and gravel pits around here, but not many you can easily access, so I was happy to find this one, which seems abandoned.
Another snow spiral problem I've had is unwanted footprints, because the best spirals I've made have to start from the center, so there's always a line of footprints that cut through the spiral.
This time I tried starting from the outside and working my way in, but there was a pile of sand that through me off, and my spiral quickly turned oval instead of round.
There wasn't enough snow either (sometimes I've had too much) under the snow was a layer of frozen snow that had previously been rained on, and the parts of the timelapse where I move slower are because I was kicking at the ice, trying to make a visible path.
To make things worse, I was too tired to go back that night to do the light painting, and the next day it got covered in snow.
I later realized that this area won't work for lining up the spiral with the north star, because you lose the high vantage point, since the path on the right is where you would need to set up, and that area has been dug out.
A crow attempts to dislodge a hawk from a branch this morning. Crow, you will never defeat the hawk. The hawk leaves when she feels like leaving.
Today I got suddenly got Twitter's fail whale. It seems that world events impact social media more than I thought.
Ive weathered this PC tonight, however I'm not sure about the finish.
Ive simulated an oil slick by spraying a line of Metalcote matt black vertically.
I know the glazing has slipped, it needs glueing.
Well, at least Target Diskmode saves the day for both of us. KIller feature for when things go wrong really. Guenter's computer can't boot the OS because the disk fails, but from Target Disk mode he can still get his data out. I can't boot my computer because the gfx fail, but with Target Disk mode I can boot the other mac from my harddrive and avoid losing a day of setup for a new computer.
Joaq and I watched part of 2001: A Space Odyssey tonight, and I was inspired to make this.

Not entirely sure what happened here, but I failed with bad magic. When I rebooted, the message disappeared and booted properly.
Tonight was the first time in my 366 that I felt stressed to get something to post. I had an idea for a time lapse video I wanted to do with my GoPro camera. I get the tripod rigged up in the car. Downloaded the music I was gonna put with it. Got my costume all ready. Then waited for the sun to set. Once it did I headed out snapping a pic every second, took about an hour to get where I wanted to go and back and then sat down to check it out. FUCK! The GoPro is not a DSLR, it does not work well in low light I should have known that or at the very least tried it out first before I wasted my time driving all over town.
OK so now what, it's getting late, I needed something simple. I remember Brad saying when you don't know what to do, throw on the 50 hold the camera at arms length and snap away.
OK cool, that sounds good, just need my remote which was not where it was supposed to be. Ran around looking for it and realized that I had most likely left it in my pants from the last time I used it and it should be in the laundry. Bingo! I don't know how many times I have done that.
Thought I would throw on my glasses to change things up a bit, which is always a problem when you have your contacts in..doh. Snapped a few shots, checked them on the display and they were blurry. WTF? It's focusing...snap a few more, check and then realize I have my damn glasses on, no wonder they are gonna be blurry. Take of the glasses and check and what do you know, nice and sharp.
Lets just say that tonight was a bit of a struggle, but it's done and I did take a photo of a goat standing on top of a car on my way home from work.(Look in the comments)
Random Fact: See that kinda blob looking spot above my lip. Thats special sauce from the Big Mac I had wolfed down quickly so I could get this damn photo taken that I didn't know was there till after I took the pic.

I hate artificial lighting! This is a faiiiill :(
So i’m super behind with my astronomy class that i’m thinking about just dropping it to receive a W. :/ I need to stop being so lazy & just finish it & try my hardest but it’s just a really hard class with all this math involved. It just reallly sucks.
Anyway. Today was good. Had more training at the studio & barely had time to take this. Hence why it’s so bad :((((.
Doing my boyfriend’s 2 sister’s photoshoots tmrw! So i can almost promise you that tmrw’s photo will be good & it will make up for all the crappy photos lately. Yayyyy :D
OH! does anyone use iMovie on their Macs? Does it make slideshows with pictures or just videos?? I can't figure out how to upload just photos on it.
