I love backlit leaves, don't you?
These pretty new leaves and whisps of spider silk illuminated by the sun reminded me of a fairy sleeping in a little nest.

Faeries invited me to shoot them as they worked in a church to remove old ductwork and make a space for their spring Faerie Faire
The lighting isn't so great in this photo but you can see the back of the bodice before I attached the wings.
Thoughts flit in and out of my subconscious like faeries on the wing. Some are shy and flirtatious, concealing themselves in the thinnest gossamer spun from spider's silk. Others are more playful, sparkling as their jewelry flashes in the sun.

Meet the newest doll here at Scribble Dolls, and my first doll of 2014!
She was a custom order inspired by Charles' Creature Cabinet's Fidelia Firefly Faerie.
(I'm sure if you follow me here on Flickr, you KNOW my feelings on the lovely Fidelia's!)
She is 11.5 inches tall.
She can not remain sitting up or standing without something to assist her, but she can still be manipulated in many fun ways with a prop.
I, personally, am having lots of fun with her because she's cuddly and floppy like a rag doll. :)
She was made using my newly drawn up "Pixie" pattern (with a slight change to her head...she needed to match the larger heads of the firefly faeries!).
Expect to see more Pixies in the near future! (They'll be very similar to this faerie, except for the smaller head and a slightly different face style.)

Holly Faerie is a OOAK beaded art doll. She is bal-jointed and has 13 points of articulation. She is made of Japanese glass seed beads, organic cotton thread & fiber fill, ahimsa silk thread, and Swarovski pearls. She is about 9 inches tall. There is a lot of interesting lore about the holly plant, I posted a little about that on my website, if anyone wants to read it, here is the link: faeriedustdolls.wordpress.com/2015/08/17/holly-faerie/
