Still in the original Westrail scheme with an ARG logo painted over, DB2311 (originally DB1591 ) departs Kwinana heading southbound towards Bunbury on a caustic soda consist on 24-10-08.
13 x DB class G26C-2 were built by Clyde at Rosewater SA powered by an EMD 16-645E producing 2300hp.
DB1591 entered service in March 1983 and was renumbered to DB2311 after ARG took over Westrail.
The loco is named Shire of Manjimup.
It's hard to believe that this shot was taken less than 4 months ago, but it was. Summer faded into fall, which then turned to winter.
For those of you in cold weather climates like me, I hope this reminds you that summer in the Northern Hemisphere is now less than 6 months away!
I think that this is a Holly Blue butterfly, hiding in the shadows at Rhossili Beach, Gower Peninsula, Wales.
Compositionally Challenged Week 25 is Rule of Thirds. The bleeding hearts finished blooming a month ago, except for these three late bloomers. They are fully mature, their color fading.
This Pink Autumn Sage (Salvia greggii) is holding it's own in the fading Fall light. Salvia is the largest genus in the mint family. Their tubular flower can distinguish them in that they have two lips, the lower lip being flat but the upper lip is curved or helmet shaped.
Detail of Spanish revival home built in the 1920s by James Madison Chiles for his family. He was the residential developer of the town of Kenilworth, which, in 1929, was annexed to Asheville. Kenilworth is a lovely pedestrian-friendly neighborhood with homes that vary from small Arts and Crafts cottages to significant estates, like this one, which clearly is in need of a lot of TLC.

Sometimes looking at something a different way can change everything. That and harsh, midday light really stinks for photography. So I came up with this while waiting around for a sunset one afternoon in Daphne, Alabama.

This line of clouds is all that is left of a line of thunderstorms that marched into the Salt Lake Valley Sunday night, then faded away before producing any measurable rain. However, it produced some pretty contrasting colors as the sun began to set...
Fading flowers have their own beauty. Here an aquilegia shares the stage with a white liatris, commonly known as gayfeather or blazing star.
Thanks, as always, for stopping by and for all of your ongoing support. Hope everyone has a terrific Tuesday.

Dear Mary,
Remember me always as your sincere friend.

This old family heirloom stays in the drawer most of the time. It has a brilliant blue cover that chalks off and stains anything it touches. Its fun to read the inscriptions though and wonder who the people were and what they might have been wearing when Mary asked them to write in her autograph book.
In the top of the photo are an antique porcelain victorian style boot that I saved my allowance up for when I was a tween (the price tag is still on the bottom, a whopping $4.50) and an antique kerosene lamp which we press into service now and then when the power goes out.

Back in 2010, all 28 arches of the Royal Border Bridge were illuminated to celebrate it's 160th anniversary. The lights constantly changing colour and providing quite a visual spectacle.
Now it appears that just the arches that actually span the river Tweed are illuminated, without any change of colour. Although it still makes an impressive sight, it does seem a shame that after only six years, and goodness knows how much expense, that just under half of the bridge is lit up.

Fading beauty.
Sometimes you watch her shine and you can't help but stand there in awe.
However most of the time you overlook her beauty, even though she stands there right before you.
You ignore her radiance and take for granted all that she does for you.
Yet when she goes away you do everything in your power to bring her back, and when you cannot you try to find something as brilliant to replace her.
Her beauty fading into darkness before you're very eyes.
Don't be sad when she goes, use that as a reminder to thank her tomorrow.
Change is coming :) College applications are coming to an end and auditions are underway. I have been accepted into my first choice conservatory and I am extremely blessed and excited. My schedule is busy with finals and more auditions around the corner, but it's well worth the results. Hopefully I'll be getting out this weekend to take some new shots and have some refreshing experiences that will I get me through the next few months of school.

The end of this project will be bitter-sweet for me. I will enjoy the feeling of not “having to” take a picture every day, I will enjoy the days where I don’t “have to” be creative; however, I will miss having the outlet to journalize my feelings, write commentary, and learn new things both about me and about photography. I think that when someone takes a meaningful picture of themselves every day that it becomes part of who they are and is not something that will just stop. For this reason I will continue to do self portraits, just not every day.
