Fading beauty

this creepy shed window provides endless fascination for me and my camera

We do not see nature with our eyes, but with our understandings and our hearts.

I took my Macro and tripod with me and went to a walk around my place. It's amazing how many little details you can see if you look close enough. Lots of insects, nice flowers, ...

Thank you so much for your support!

F.W.Woolworth Co. 5 and !0 cent store. If you remember these, you are probably old. :)

I love finding these old faded advertisements on buildings. Just a little reminder of days gone by.

I've added a wonderful song by Nancy Griffith about Woolworths for your listening pleasure.

Had a mess with the rainbow blade tonight in conjunction with some camera rotation. Worked on a technique until satisfied then capped the lens and busted out a phisiogram over the top.

Happy days.

'Roid Week Spring 2018 - Day 2 #1

Captured in Sept. 2012 in Blaubeuren Germany with a Panasonic DMC-ZS20.

It was edited in Alien Skin Exposure 5, with two variations of Old Kodachrome faded options and the layers blended with a blend mode.

This mill wheel used the water power to drive a hammer that forged iron.

This pond was really green in color, yet very clear.

There is a very busy hiking path that goes up the hill behind the wheel.

There is also very deep blue pond here. Its gets its color from its depth. At one point they thought it was bottomless. But divers finally reached the bottom and discovered the its greatest depth 20.6 m, volume approx 5,500 m³. with a constant temp in the depths of 9.4 °C.

I seem to remember that there were also some prehistoric settlements and artifacts associated with that hill.

Blaubeuren is located west of Ulm. There is an Abbey and some castle ruins nearby. It is considered a Town District, and I was told that they keep the area its serves historic records there. I am guessing it is kind of like the Market town in the UK.

It has some really nice old architecture with great details.

Not too many flowers grow by the seashore. It's pretty rough faring for something so delicate, but these lovely, Lantana blooms were planted outside the public restrooms and picnic area of the Ponce Inlet Park. When I saw them, I couldn't resist taking a pic, not so much because of the flowers, but the interesting star shaped growth on the right. I don't know if it has anything to do with them, but it was interesting, anyway. I tried to capture the insects that were flying around the flowers, which looked something like a cross between a brownish-grey moth and a butterfly, but they moved too quickly for me to focus on, and since light was fading and I had a lot more to see, I moved on!

This wasn't taken with my macro lens, which I'm sure would have given a much better result, but there just wasn't time. One of these days, I'll go earlier with the sole intent (yeah, right!) of doing a macro shoot. I think that would be best reserved for a garden area, but who knows? There are a lot of beautiful macro possibilities at the beach, although it's hard to take note of them when focusing on waves, lighthouses and lifeguard towers! Perhaps a cloudy, grey day that would be less tempting would do. :-)

Another from the vaults. Also testing out Creative Cloud. ;)

The JR 700 Series shinkansen were the standard of early 21st century high speed rail in Japan. Originally built to replace the ancient 100, and 300 Series in 1997, the 1,300+ examples built were the most numerous of any high-speed train in Japanese history. Like with all things, age catches up to these relatively modern locomotives.

JR West hinted that in addition to the 500 Series, the original 700 Series shinkansen will be withdrawn, to be replaced with new N700S Series. Not many of the original 700 series examples are left. All of them are allocated to JR West's San-yo Shinkansen between Osaka and Hakata. They operate on JR West's "Hikari Rail Star", basically a semi-fast service between the cities.

This example is crossing over the Takahashi River near Kurashiki bound for Osaka. Though i'm not really a fan of the originals, I appreciate any opportunity to photograph them!

“Beauty's a doubtful good, a glass, a flower,

Lost, faded, broken, dead within an hour;

And beauty, blemish'd once, for ever's lost,

In spite of physic, painting, pain, and cost”

Taken at Topsail beach Easter monday night! With the mixed weather we had all day I wasn't expecting such a vibrant sunset!

If I'm not back in 24 hours that means I still am working on scholarships. And if I am back in 24 hours and I don't include the sentence "I FINISHED SCHOLARSHIP APPS" in the caption, yell at me.
