Just a simple roster shot of a brace of C40-8s tied down on the South Track and idling away in a snow squall sitting just west of the Groton-Harvard Road crossing at MP 35.5 on the Keolis/MBTA Fitchburg Route mainline.

These three units graphically illustrate the changing times in New England as all three are former Pan Am Railways units, part of a group of 30 ex CSXT C40-8s (24 standard cab and 6 wide cab)acquired by Pan Am in 2017 in a deal brokered by GE. With the sale of Pan Am to CSXT effective June 1, 2022 they all once again became the property of their former owner. Finally after a protracted delay Genesee and Wyoming's newly created Berkshire and Eastern Railroad began operating the former Pan Am Southern property as a neutral third party on behalf of 50/50 parents Norfolk Southern and CSXT.

Consequently 10 of the remaining C40 variants were transferred to the new startup including the three here. Most were quickly patched with mee BERX reporting marks and the Pan Am Railways or legacy CSXT logos were painted over. Interestingly while BERX 7518 lost her Pan Am lettering and logo on her hood she kept her Pan Am globe nose logo. Why? I have no idea but it sure does make for an interesting marker in time that will assuredly not last as the Pan Am image fades from the New England rail scene.

Our Daily Challenge ~ Fade/d

Thank you to everyone who pauses long enough to look at my photo. Any comments or Faves are very much appreciated.

The memory of the autumn 2017.

This photo was taken at the East Beach, Lossiemouth. The a rainbow which had been very bright was fading fast as the sun set - you can still just make it out.

Taken with an Olympus OM-D E-M10 and M.Zuiko 14-42IIR plus Lee Little Stopper and 0.6ND Grad.

"And then she fades away like she never existed.

Like it was all a dream.

Her mind is gone, and her heart is a ghost.

You hold on to the memory of a sad goodbye, to the hugly truth of broken hearts.

Everything fades, and all things eventually are lost.

But in the darkest pit of your mind, you look inside and you see that you can always try to find."

The shadows are getting longer, and the feeling of Autumn is in the air in North Conway, as Conway Scenic's Notch Train waits for passengers to de-board after another trip up the former Maine Central's Mountain Division. Copywrite Thomas Schubert 2017

Summer is slowly fading into Fall down here in the Deep South....we think! :)

Gonna miss stoppin' by all the garden shops to see what new flowers we can

bring home to plant....but it sure will be nice to not worry about weeding and

watering for awhile too! So, as bittersweet as it is, fade on Summer.....

Another season's crops have been harvested, fall is quickly fading, but this old barn might take many more seasons to fully fade away.

I've been away for several days and just really busy lately. I promise I'll catch up on all your streams over the weekend. I hope that those who celebrate it are having a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend....and a wonderful plain jane weekend to those that don't :)

This is My Little Candy. Her hair color has faded from the bright candy pink it was when I got her for Christmas in 2011, but she is still glorious! I have decided to embrace the fade. Instead of the bright colors I like to use in my photographs, she needs to be surrounded by muted tones.

This landmark tree in Big Meadows of SNP has finally succumbed to rotting roots and gravity, tipping over on it's side. The fog helps tell the story of the "fading" of the tree with time. Taken on a foggy-day hike in Shenandoah National Park, Virginia. Seen in flickr Explore 2014-10-19.

This rainbow sort of faded into the clouds as it reached the termination of its appearance. It was one of the most vivid and beautiful rainbows I have ever seen, and I sure had fun running around our place for 20 minutes taking shots from different vantage points and perspectives.

I started to write my thoughts about Flickr, but even those word faded.

I want to hold the hand inside you

I want to take the breath that's true

I look to you and I see nothing

I look to you to see the truth

You live your life, you go in shadows

You'll come apart and you'll go black

Some kind of night into your darkness

Colours your eyes with what's not there

Fade into you

Strange you never knew

Fade into you

I think it's strange you never knew

A stranger's light comes on slowly

A stranger's heart without a home

You put your hands into your head

And then smiles cover your heart

Fade into you

Strange you never knew

Fade into you

I think it's strange you never knew

Fade into you

Strange you never knew

Fade into you

I think it's strange you never knew

I think it's strange you never knew

Like some arcane advertising lettering from another age, this faded lettering on the pavement in Queens Rd seems almost anachronistic and yet we are still not out of the woods yet. With different variants of Covid making the rounds and some scientists still advising caution who knows what is around the corner ? Many people will be fixated on June 21st, a highly symbolic date, the longest day, a significate date for many people and a date the Govt have penciled in when rules can be further relaxed. However now there are rumblings that this date may be extended by a further 2- 4 weeks despite it being heavily imprinted in many people minds. I think it shows that giving out definite dates in the current circumstances is naïve and highly irresponsible
