"Do not watch the petals fall from the rose with sadness, know that, like life, things sometimes must fade, before they can bloom again.”
One of my favourite views in Tasmania - the Leven Canyon in the North West. The Leven River snakes through the Loongana Range and flows into Bass Strait near the town of Ulverstone.
On the way to walk the dogs this morning, I popped into the local supermarket, you know the one, it rhymes with that outdoorsy Italian mobster, Al Fresco!
I just needed a few essentials, basic staples, you know the stuff, saffron, white truffle and quinoa.
Bloody hell!
Twas like the night before Christmas, but the mice were definitely stirring! Stirring like the cheese was going to end tomorrow!
Parking was a nightmare, where’s Reginald Molehusband when you need him?
We’re living in very uncertain and worrying times but there are many people who need to sit down, have a word with themselves and rationalise this situation before it gets rationed for us.
We have more than enough food and provisions for everyone and panic buying only serves to deprive others. No one needs 10 kilos of loo roll unless they’re planning to survive on Lamb Vindaloo for the next few months!
In fairness, no one was behaving irresponsibly in any way here, but we need to consider others, now, more than ever and behave sensibly and thoughtfully.
There! That’s my sensible comment for this year. Now back to normality.
Well, it’s Sunday afternoon and time to slap on some foundation, bronzer, eyeliner and lippy!
In the meantime, here’s some classic pop to be going on with from…….well, far too long ago!

80's were peaceful, free years, but they have their own shame

With the fading daylight the temperature decreased rapidly and started to freeze camera, tripod and photographer.
I'm putting all my cards on the table and identifying this bird as a male Scarlet Tanager. The females and immatures are greenish/yellow with olive wings. Apparently, as fall approaches, the males shed their red plumage and take on a similar appearance to the females who are yellow. So in any event, this bird has some changes coming possibly!
I was thrilled this morning when I saw this tanager eyeing the pokeweed berries and when he hovered mid-air to secure one, I did capture his wings up and there, right where our armpits would be (I'm sure there is a technical name!) a small hint of red!
I do feel pretty darn confident it is a tanager but would always be glad to hear from people who know more about this than me!
Good weekend to all and thank you so much for your visits!
~ And what a surprise: my "Fade" made it to Explore # 415, wednesday july 15, 2009. Thank you so much! ~
