Action shot from the game between Gloucestershire (batting) and Unicorns (fielding) at Exmouth Cricket Club in Devon. The match in the Clydesdale Bank 40 Overs League was won by Gloucestershire who won by 6 wickets with 23 balls remaining. Unicorns were formed specifically for this tournement and consist of players from the regular first class counties without full-time contracts.
I was out all day yesterday, trying to learn a bit more about my new camera, and get the hang of it. Not doing too well so far, trial and error and characteristically not enough patience, but i'll get there.
Anyway i was trying to work on the theme of managing to photograph the wind, as it is an element so prevalent in Wellington, yet very hard to photograph aside form a stiffly blown flag etc. While walking back from the 3am hellishness of Courtney place i was fooling around with this statue trying to get a half decent long exposure shot, but the wind was so strong that it was blowing the camera on mini tripod all over the place, even when being held firmly to the floor, getting me soaked in the process.
Fitting enough really considering this statue was created as a 'dedication' to the solace of facing into the Strong Wellington Harbour winds.
"Odd Indiana" is one of the exhibits currently at the Indiana State Museum, and as much as I enjoyed the big Titanic exhibit, I think I liked Odd Indiana even more! One of the displays was this dental equipment from the 1920s.
I am terrified of the dentist. Horrified. Petrified. And seeing historical dental equipment from 100 years ago took me to a "Dr. Giggles" horror movie kind of place. But the display fit well with the "Odd Indiana" theme, and helped to inspire my visit to the Indiana Medical History Museum later in the day.
I spent a lot of time standing and photographing out of the pop-open roof. Here, I wanted to show how we are on a narrow road and how close we are to these creatures. They can move awfully fast, and are only several feet away. Standing here would be okay, but I didn't want to lean out the window at this distance.
