This was taken from the 20th floor of the Harris County Criminal Justice Center, facing West. The clouds in the sky were invisible - completely washed out - until I selected them using Photoshop, and drastically adjusted the levels to bring out the clouds.
It's been a long time since I last shoot this beautiful robberfly . I just can't stop being amazed by the details of its eyes .
A long facing, scooped-out floor and no baffle. Very narrow tip opening. People think of these as playing stuffy and resistant with a tone like a lost cow - probably because they're using a soft reed. Gotta use a hard reed!!
But even with a hard reed you can't expect the projection and volume produced by a modern high-baffle mouthpiece. You can get lovely tone from them, but it's old fashioned tone.
Old Ma Wan Village--Ma Wan is one of the oldest inhabited islands in Hong Kong and is located near the Tsing Ma bridge. A large residential development now covers most of the island. The old fishing village on the island is mostly deserted and there are plans to move the remaining residents and turn the site into a hotel complex. This man has lived most of his life in this tiny village.

Looking into the Sunrise as it clears the horizon, shining thru the clouds and bathes my neighbor's dew-drenched backyard.
The sunlight passes through the fence and makes this typical "fanning out" pattern. If you stood with your back to the fence, looking in the opposite direction, what would you expect to see?
During the Soviet occupation many people where deported to Siberia. These are the railway tracks in Vilnius heading East. Trains would roll this way.
Dianne's rain-every-day Vancouver holiday is over. She left today and now the weather is glorious.
During the 4 days Dianne stayed here we did a good job of adusting our plans to compensate for the rain and, from my perspective, we couldn't have had a better time (Chinatown, Burnaby Palace, Romana, Park Royal, Horseshoe Bay, Dunderave, Nando's, and watching game 1 of the Stanley Cup finals on TV). Vancouver beat Boston by scoring the only goal of the game ... in the last 19 seconds!

This is a fancy clematis growing in my garden. It is getting ready to open fully to look more like a rose than a clematis. :)
This is looking at the front of the porch. I have a super-cool 50's yellow formica (I think) table with drop-leaf sides. There's a collection of old watering cans, and a 60's black metal stand that fit just perfectly over the porch wall! It helps give some privacy, sort of like an "open-air wall." I salvaged the big green metal cooler (between my 2 garage-sale-find green folding chairs) from someone's trash! :D It's the best birdseed keeper on earth - totally squirrel-proof! My Mom gave me the 2 white leaf tables. They were made to slide over a chair for a tray-table.

-38C the North wind lashing against the Kutcho camp. We had built up snow mounts to help cut the wind hitting the tent faces which seemed to help now.....
