Poem:
Upon the Canvas of the Night
In strokes of shadow, bursts of light,
A dreamer paints the soul's flight,
Where fears and hopes in colors bright,
Entwine in dance, dispel the plight.
In depths where silent whispers dwell,
Beneath the conscious, surface swell,
Emotions in rebellion yell,
Yet in the chaos, beauty's spell,
Weaves tales that only art can tell.
A journey through the heart's domain,
Where joy meets sorrow, pleasure, pain,
And through the tempest, calm again,
The canvas holds, in every stain,
The essence of the dreamer's reign.
Within this realm, no boundaries known,
Where seeds of unseen worlds are sown,
Expression's purest form is shown,
And through such art, we're gently thrown
Into realms to us, previously unknown.
Haiku:
Dreams weave through the void,
Colours blend, emotions swirl,
Souls speak without words.
A college project. Combine these eight things into one illustration:
1. Albert Einstein
2. Pink flamingoes
3. Fire
4. Water
5. Neon
6. Crayons
7. A window
8. A piece of a map
So here we have Albert Einstein, playing "My heart weeps for you," on his violin, at his diner, Al's (neon sign in window), in New Jersey (map), while customers sit at plastic crayon-legged tables and chairs, enjoyig the music and a kitschy water fountain with plastic pink flamingoes, and gazing at the fireflies blinking in the parking lot outside.
This image is another example of "panning". (See Day 353). The shutter speed was set at 1/20th second and the camera was given a small upward motion as the image was captured. The trick is to get the right amount of motion in the camera. It is one more project resulting from a recent workshop that I attended.
A fine example of German Expressionism, with a hint of Fauvism, by August Macke - an artist who lost his life in the early days of World War I.

The golden and coral abstract flowers in this piece represent the beautiful hillsides I've experienced in California. The flowers that I painted remind me of the California poppy. This is the first painting of a series of four.

The hard part was deciding what went on the canvas and what went on his smock.
The cathedral is located in the Cathedral Hill neighbourhood of San Francisco, California. The present cathedral replaced one (1891-1962) of the same name. The cathedral was designed by local architects John Michael Lee, Paul A. Ryan and Angus McSweeney, collaborating renown architects Pier Luigi Nervi and Pietro Belluschi — at the time, the Dean of the School of Architecture at MIT.
Its saddle roof is composed of eight segments of hyperbolic paraboloids, in such a fashion that the bottom horizontal cross section of the roof is a square and the top cross section is a cross.
In 2017, Architecture Digest named it one of the 10 most beautiful churches in the United States.
Bonn Museum of Modern Art, Germany, was founded in 1947. The Kunstmuseum exhibits both temporary exhibitions and its collection. Its collection is focused on Rheinish Expressionism and post-war German art. It is part of Bonn's "Museum Mile". The present building, which opened in 1992, was created by the BJSS firm (Axel Schultes) and Jürgen Pleuser. It has three entrances, symbolizing openness. The design of the staircase has been described as a "precise geometry, cut like jewellery. The conception of light brings the collection to life." The total exhibition area is around 4,000 m2.
Both the architecture and the collections it houses convey their pleasure in mutual existence. Neither are in competition with the other; both find their expression in coalition with the building. The Kunstmuseum Bonn is the most important postwar museum construction, making it the culmination of the museum boom in Germany. The building is an architectural end-in-itself as well as a conservational shell. It makes high claims for itself, but also for the collections. Schultes operates openly. His concept of light brings the collection to life. Light streams through the rooms as though poured from a watering can. It was the architecture that made the museum internationally known. In interplay with Gustav Peichl's building, the Art and Exhibition Hall of the German Republic that faces it, it enhances its own specific valence as architecture. Two of the major collections of the Bonn Art Museum are "August Macke and the Rheinish Expressionists" and works of internationally recognized representatives of German art since 1945.
