The main facial expressions of a Kathakali artist are the 'navarasams' ( 'Navarasas' in anglicised form )(literal translation: Nine Tastes, but more loosely translated as nine feelings or expressions) which are Sringaaram (amour), Haasyam (ridicule, humour), Bhayam (fear), Karunam (pathos), Rowdram (anger, wrath), Veeram (valour), Beebhatsam (disgust), Adbhutham (wonder, amazement), Saantham (tranquility, peace). troy died. see previous entries with pictures of him for the story.
and then my 15 year old cousin brian violently took his own life three months later. i had barely started to grieve troy's death - in fact, the last time i saw brian, i was still so in mourning over troy, i barely paid him any attention. i slept when i could have been spending time with him. and now he's gone.
words cannot describe the dark place to which i have gone. nothing gives me joy anymore.
this photo was one i was setting up for my film camera for my photography class. i decided to upload it since i haven't been really taking any pictures in awhile. i'm going to try to start utilizing my photography as a means of self-expression once again. i'm afraid of what will happen if i don't find a way out of this dark place.
