The Max Pechstein exhibition "Expression of Harmony" was on view at the Kunsthal in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, from March 28 to June 15, 2025. It was a comprehensive overview of the German expressionist painter and Die Brücke member Max Pechstein (1881–1955). Pechstein's dynamic and colorful compositions were highly influential in the development of the visual language of expressionism. Much of his work reflects a quest for a harmonious relationship between humanity and nature, inspired in part by Pechstein's travels to the Prussian villages of Nidden and Leba, and the Palau Islands. His work reflects on an era of profound change in Europe, including the suppression of his art by the Nazi regime.

The lady on the left was Mrs. Bell and she taught us what was called "Expression". This photo has to be back in the late 1940's. Probably 1949 or so. I am one of the Frogs in the front row, the one where the marker is. Found this old photo and thought I would share it with my Flickr friends. Days of Yester-year. Photo was taken in the Auditorium of West Corinth Mississippi Elementary School.

Flowers have an expression of countenance as much as men or animals. Some seem to smile, some have a sad expression, some are pensive and diffident, others again are plain, honest and upright. Henry Ward Beecher

The legend of the wind blowing around the cathedral is as follows: In olden days, the Devil flew over the ground, riding the wind. Thus he caught a glimpse of his portrait carved onto the cathedral: the Tempter, courting the foolish virgins (Matthew 25:1-13), in the guise of a seductive young man. It is true that his back opens up and toads and snakes come out of it, but none of the naïve girls notices that — nor do many tourists for that matter. Very flattered and curious, the Devil had the idea to enter to see whether there were other sculptures representing him on the inside of the cathedral. Taken captive inside the holy place, he could not come back out. The wind always waits in the square and still howls today from impatience on the places outside the cathedral. The Devil, furious, makes air currents from the bottom of the church to the height of the pillar of angels.

How did I learn this ? Where did I learn this? All questions can be answered at here. I am very agreed by what Jerry Chionis, meanwhile I am a big fans of Louis Pang of course.
Every Thursday, I will try my best to give myself sometimes to read his new published tips. Not only in photography, but also how to live it with passion with photography, which matter the most.
He quoted, " We can be overly concerned about posing perfectly that we forget that great expression beats perfection on any given day." I can't agreed more, in fact the expression always come to my priority shot and I know it ain't easy to deal with, not to mentioned to master it in a proper way. Candid shots can be expression, but to be with soul in it, it has to pay lot more effort to get it right.
I just got my recent ROM's photos and most of the candid shots have its soul come along, and I am very impressed. I hope one day I could be the Photo Journalism.
