Big waves were forecast for Thursday, 12/28/23, perhaps 10-15 feet. This is entrance to Ventura Harbor, shot from "Kiddie Beach," which is normally as calm as a pond because of the jetties/breakwaters. Ventura, California

Two very unusual lakes in Mazury, Poland, called Tobelus Duży and Tobelus Mały. Their unique nature lies in the fact that they are the only lakes in the world to have exploded. This was because underneath them there are deposits of methane, which still can be smelt if you stay too long near the lakes.

Cleaning up after a serious incident. The hose carrying the air/oil mix from the screw-type compressor to the separator/receiver tank blew apart on start-up, immediately spewing air and oil at 350 PSI/1000 CFM. Fortunately the whip-checks did their job and nobody was injured or killed--just some ringing of ears. A new hose has been installed and cleanup continues--hydraulic oil now coats everything. Hose is rated for at least three times the relief setting. The hose supplier is investigating.
I'm not sure what happened here, but I like it. It looks detailed, yet soft...I didn't have it stopped down past f16 so it's not diffraction at play...I think its may be the flower reflecting back the flash - the Viv 90mm does not like that and loses contrast, though its normally much more severe than this ( yet usually recoverable from a .NEF file... ).
*Edit: Diffraction!
