My new car, shot during the International Symposium on Fireworks in Bordeaux. What a cool car to drive!

Le Bignon, 44, Pays de la Loire, FRANCE

The startling fireworks at the end of the River Festival finale, at Llandogo.

A wonderful atmosphere as hundreds of people formed a torchlight parade through the village.

The fireworks at the end were spectacular!

The main explosive charges light up the two remaining piers of the eastern half of the old Tappan Zee Bridge at preciously 10:52AM as seen from the east shore of the Hudson River from the grounds of the Lyndhurst Mansion. In less than 10 seconds the massive steel structure fell to the earth like a mastodon being brought to its knees by early hunters.

The reason for the controlled demolition dates back to December on 2018 when it was determined that traditional methods of deconstruction had become unsafe. It was feared the remaining structure could experience a significant failure and potentially fall into the new Tappan Zee Bridge (or the Governor Mario M. Cuomo Bridge for those who will actually call it that) or fall into the navigable channel of the Hudson River.

The decision was made to perform a controlled demolition shortly after and "Controlled Demolition, Inc" of Phoenix, MD was brought in to rig the remainder with explosives.

The remaining span was fixed with large chains so it could be easily lifted out of the river as one large piece while the piers and whatever other debris left behind would be cleaned up by a marine salvage operation.

The Hudson River waterway was closed to marine traffic early that morning while highway traffic on the new bridge came to a stop at 10:11AM. Metro-North also shut down the Hudson Line at CP-25 to all traffic at 10:21AM with Amtrak Train #236 being the last one through before all 4 mains were removed from service.

Burnsall is on of my favourite places to visit at this time of year! There is a cracking short walk up the river (perfect length for my young children), that is broken up by a very wobbly suspension bridge. We timed this walk to perfection, as we arrived at this point the sun broke through the clouds and illuminated the vivid colours. I was like a big kid, it was like Christmas. The day had been overcast and dull up till this point and bang, a short break in the clouds. As it happened it only broke through for about 20 min and as I snapped away the kids were cockering the very tree I was under! (Bit dangers but hey I don’t mind an odd cocker on my head!)

I have mixed feelings about this time of year; on one hand I love the rich colours, the low light and still warm sunny days. But on the other winter is coming, the clocks are about to change, cold wet damp weekends..... Going to work in the dark and coming home to a cold dark house...It symbolises the end of summer. The turning of a new yearly cycle. It illuminates our impermanence; it kind of reminds me to appreciate the now, yet another year is slipping away. But hey we wouldn’t have spring if we didn’t have autumn.

My 1st morning shoot in years...damn it felt good :-)

First of another series starring my self made BJD Yurei-chan. The black cracks are acrylic paint on card. The white was overlayed digitally. Both doll and painting were exhibited together at Design Festa in Tokyo a few years ago. They made quite an, er ... impact. : )

I should make this a homage to Ballard ...

Green Cay Wetlands, Boynton Beach, FL

Got up early Saturday to go our for a sunrise shoot. Apparently we got up to early, because when we arrived at Green Cay Wetlands just after 6:00 am the gate was still closed. Hmm... it was already getting bright.

I briefly considered going someplace else, but then there isn't too much around there, so we waited. Eventually the gate opened and we rushed in.

When we got to our usual spot, the clouds looked beautiful, we got great reflections, but no color? That can't be.

Slowly but surely, we got some color in the sky and then the colors just exploded...

Summer sunrise on Ballota beach .... on the Asturian coast. I wanted to play with the odd numbers in the foreground and with the diagonals of the water lines to read the photograph and add dynamism. and as for color I have opted for analogues to convey calm.

Destructive, Reckless, Insane;

This former thief was loathed by the other Piraka for good reason:

In a barrage of Heat Vision, Lava and Mental Blasts, Hakann's first approach to a problem more-often-than-not amounted to ‘set all aflame’ – enemies, allies, surroundings, bystanders, and himself all in equal measure.

Hakann had a knack for being in the centre of every conflict, constantly making risky maneuvres, sabotaging alliances, and neglecting his own safety. One of Bionicle's 'Chaotic Stupids' for sure!

I aimed to capture this manic, destructive nature with his oversized shotgun & shells, exposed chest, spiked armour, and of course that manic grin, which I felt the helmet accentuated.

“What are those?”

“Kikanalo,” Balta answered. “They eat plants, when they can find them. They are very big and powerful, and their stampedes are frightening… but they’re mostly harmless.”

Hakann smiled. Then he stared hard at the Kikanalo for a few seconds. Crimson bolts of energy erupted from his forehead and struck the Rahi, completely obliterating them. All that was left was a few wisps of smoke.

“And now,” Hakann said, satisfied, “they are not even that.”

“Why – why did you do that?” Balta sputtered, stunned. “They were no threat to anyone!”

They were blocking my view.” Hakann replied casually.
