Merry christmas and happy new year! Let's hope the new year of 2012 will be favorable for photography and exploring of nature. Ofcourse couple of volcanoes and unexpected adventures would be great too ;-)
This is a self-portrait inside a recently formed ice cave in the glaciers on the south coast of Iceland. Entering this cave is only possible in a freezing period due to the "floor" is actually a small lagoon.
Cheers, Skarpi

The statue in the foreground, inspired by the work of Casanova, is the Venus of Pompeo Marchesi… The image of the woman in a burqa instead is the work of an anonymous photographer… The two women (like their cultures), they look but do not speak. I wonder if one day (finally and without violence) they really will be able to talk to each other sharing what they can convey deeper?”

This is a photo I took of Lloyd when I was meeting up with him, Vilde & Håvard.
It was really fun meeting up with other photographers and the fog was absolutely stunning that day :)

(316/366) We're making an conscious effort to buy more locally produced food. Supervalu in Wellingtonbridge would be our nearest decent sized supermarket, I really liked how they have displayed this fresh produce in wheelbarrows, the person who thought this up deserves a medal (best viewed Large to see the wellington boots!) As well as vegetables they offer a wide range of local produce including fish (of course), butter, bread, hen & duck eggs, bacon, sausages & the most delicious yogurts.
Lovely sunny day here after torrential rain last night. I'm off to explore the grounds of Johnstown Castle with the Wexford Naturalists' Field Group this afternoon so I'll catch up with comments this evening. Have a great weekend everyone.

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do.

Visitez / visit :
Old soldiers never die they only fade away.
But the young ones do not die, no they are cut down instead.
And someone pulled the trigger, gave the order, held the sword,
And some one wrote the advert in the paper that they read.
Thy will be done,
But you won't get your hands on my son.
You can wait till kingdom come.

Blueberries is very healthy all the time :-)
Here we enter the macro world with a bokeh capture of an amarican blueberry in Norway.
Wikipedia:
Blueberries (Vaccinium corymbosum) are perennial flowering plants with indigo-colored berries. They are classified in the section Cyanococcus within the genus Vaccinium. Vaccinium also includes cranberries, bilberries and grouseberries. Commercial "blueberries" are native to North America, and the "highbush" varieties were not introduced into Europe until the 1930s.
Blueberries are usually prostrate shrubs that can vary in size from 10 centimeters (3.9 in) to 4 meters (13 ft) in height. In the commercial production of blueberries, the smaller species are known as "lowbush blueberries" (synonymous with "wild"), while the larger species are known as "highbush blueberries".
The leaves can be either deciduous or evergreen, ovate to lanceolate, and 1–8 cm (0.39–3.15 in) long and 0.5–3.5 cm (0.20–1.38 in) broad. The flowers are bell-shaped, white, pale pink or red, sometimes tinged greenish. The fruit is a berry 5–16 millimeters (0.20–0.63 in) in diameter with a flared crown at the end; they are pale greenish at first, then reddish-purple, and finally dark purple when ripe. They are covered in a protective coating of powdery epicuticular wax, colloquially known as the "bloom". They have a sweet taste when mature, with variable acidity. Blueberry bushes typically bear fruit in the middle of the growing season: fruiting times are affected by local conditions such as altitude and latitude, so the peak of the crop, in the northern hemisphere, can vary from May to August.
Alone in winter.
The whole time seems to have been white on white, cold, sole. There's more to come... again.
Stay Warm!
Hey, Thanks Everyone -I wasn't aware this one had taken off so well. I think we've all had so much of this winter, that it shows the drear we all feel. Hang in there!
